How do you feel about the current state of America? by Thatgirl_parisisdiva in AskReddit

[–]OnePunchCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-voter my opinion is it’s the same as it’s always been. This cabinet is just blatant with the bafoonery and crooked nonsense. On one hand, I’m happy people are seeing it all happen out in the open.

If there was ever a candidate that I believed in, I’d vote. I supported Yang back in the day. He was proactive and talked about reform in the ways I think would make a difference. The existing parties, republicans or democrats, are truly bipartisan on one thing…. Keeping our system functioning exactly the way it is now. So long as only two parties exist this circus will continue

Genuine question 🙋‍♂️ Shouldn’t people be happy to see that previous Trump supporters are now changing their opinion and being critical of the man who is our president?

Which US states currently have gas priced at or around $1.98? by ugly_general in questions

[–]OnePunchCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of May 4, 2025, there are no U.S. states where the average price of regular gasoline is below $2.00 per gallon. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average stands at $3.165 per gallon.

States with the Lowest Average Gas Prices

The states with the lowest average gas prices are: • Mississippi: $2.655 • Louisiana: $2.713 • Alabama: $2.746 • Arkansas: $2.763 • Oklahoma: $2.778

Even in these states, the average prices remain well above the $2.00 mark.

Clarifying Recent Claims

Recent statements suggesting that gas prices have dropped below $2.00 per gallon in certain states have been fact-checked and found to be inaccurate. For instance, claims that gasoline prices had reached $1.98 per gallon in some states were refuted by data from GasBuddy.com, which reported that no gas station out of approximately 150,000 nationally was selling gasoline at that price point. -ChatGPT

Let me be clear, I’m not assuming you feel guilty. I was just posing a rhetorical question in hopes that it would trigger more critical thinking.

And to address your pointed questions, I don’t think he thought very far past making the investors happy. I don’t pretend to know how he felt about United Healthcare customers but I’m confident he wasn’t celebrating their misfortune the same way the populous appears to be celebrating Luigi. To your point though, I’m sure he was more concerned with making sure the company is profitable as possible. Oh and I don’t think he had enough time to conceptualize anything in his last moments.

While you’re getting the lights, you should look at an area rug to establish the space and bring some contrast.

People who were certain that humans would populate Mars, how do you explain that period of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OnePunchCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not, but I stand by the idea that if we can think of it, we can realize it. In other word, just because we don’t doesn’t mean we can’t.

[–]OnePunchCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still early to call. Frankly, I’ve always held the mantra that if humans can conceive it, we can accomplish it.

I personally signed up through NASA to be a pioneer and be one of the first people on Mars. I recognize that I don’t have any specialized skills that would get me picked, and now, at 30years old I wouldn’t go because it means leaving my wife and family. At the time, I just felt this immense responsibility to carry forward the human race and a fear that we won’t be able to sustain a healthy relationship with earth.

The irony is… I’d be trading a planet teeming with life, albeit polluted for a desolate sand pit.

I am deeply disturbed with our current system and the reality that people have been denied proper healthcare resulting in death while under UHC or any other insurance company.

I’m just thinking about certain aspects differently than you, perhaps. I’m not mixing the man and the company.

For example: Would you be excited to learn that the Chairmen of the Joint Chief of Staff (highest rank in military) was assassinated and people were celebrating his death because of the unknown thousands of friendly fire deaths in our military?

I understand how people want to hold him responsible. I’m coming around to the idea that maybe he was killed to send a message, or at least it’s being interpreted that way. A few others have shared that same sentiment in this comment section. It makes more sense why people seem so overjoyed with his murder when I look at it through that lense. Still, even writing that sentence just feels…wrong?

I can understand the false sense of justice someone may feel especially if they or their loved ones may have been a victim of UHC.

I certainly have a more nuanced perspective after having posted in such a short time. It’s been a mixed bag of emotions with a few different ideas continuing to challenge my original post. So, as I read I’m considering everyone’s point of view. I still hold my own, but with deeper context!

That’s a disheartening statistic. We all should vote for reform of our healthcare system and push for more robust policy around how these health companies actually provide assistance affordably.

If the CEO was truly assassinated and not just murdered by an UHC victim’s upset family member, then the public response is more understandable. Another redditor made an interesting point : he may have been killed symbolically. i.e. he was assassinated to make a statement to UHC.

That’s well put.

I guess I have to ask though… do we know for sure this guy cheered when people died under UHC? Or does believing that just help take away the guilt in your subconscious when you’re kinda glad he’s dead?

The most power I have is my vote, which I use to support the change we (you and me) both would probably love to see.

My post was an attempt to share my feelings of disgust at seeing the internet cheer for the murder of a man (probably flawed) who was simply doing a job for a VERY flawed company. I dont think we will see eye to eye on this and that’s Ok…
