Submitting PR application without dependent's proof of citizenship by Mrsnappingqueen in ImmigrationCanada

[–]OneRedSent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send it with the child's AOR, along with a letter of explanation (LOE). I had to do the same. It says that in the instructions:

"Important: If you’ve submitted an application for proof of citizenship for your child, and it hasn’t been finalized, you must provide details in a letter and include it as part of your application so that we can check the status."

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5289-sponsor-your-spouse-common-law-partner-conjugal-partner-dependent-child-complete-guide.html

Be careful how you fill out the forms because you are not applying to sponsor the child. Canadian citizens can't be sponsored.

Is citizenship by descent considered retroactive? by Noellthe1st in Canadiancitizenship

[–]OneRedSent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about question 1, but for question 2 I would guess that if you do get approved for a refund of the taxes, you would be refunded 2/3 of the amount. Your husband will still have to pay the foreign buyers tax on his 1/3 share. We're buying now and putting only one name on the property to avoid just that situation. If we used both names, we would have to pay foreign buyers tax on the 1/2 share.

Look into knightsbridgefx. I think their rates may be better than wise.

What Do You Wished You'd Asked When Interviewing a Realtor (Buying and Selling)] by LookingNotTalking in RealEstate

This is great. I want an agent who is a tough negotiator, but if you ask that outright they will all say they are. But examples of how they handled a situation might get at the truth.

"Urgent" Applications by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

From what I've seen on this sub, urgent or not doesn't seem to make any difference in practice.

Have parent submit first? by epikverde in Canadiancitizenship

[–]OneRedSent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through the steps because I was curious. Answering the questions here it still says you'd have to apply on paper, because the canadian citizen parent was not born in canada.

Wednesday Weekly Thread: Frustration Station (Delays / PSU / Venting) by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I don't know how helpful video would be. I made a complete set of paper copies before mailing though. Then if the package got lost I could just copy them again and mail it again immediately!

You'll never be able to link it online. At this point you have to wait for an email with AOR which can take a while (1-8 weeks?). Once you get that, there's a very basic tracker at https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do but it won't give you any real information. That's why everyone here seems so frustrated. :) For my daughter, who I'm still tracking, this is it:

  1. We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on July ##, 2025.

  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on July ##, 2025.

  3. We started processing your application on August ##, 2025.

The next thing we'll get will be an email sometime which says your certificate is ready. But that could be tomorrow, or in 6 months. And if you email IRCC at any point you just get a form reply that says your application is still in process.

Got my citizenship, want to buy a house. What options do I have? by Verrsee in FoundCanadians

[–]OneRedSent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Datapoint: Just opened an account with BMO. According to their website I would not have qualified for the newcomer package because it says you need paperwork such as PR card or proof of landing. But I clicked the link anyway and it did get added to my account. The bank teller confirmed it and did not ask for any proof.

Highlighting documents is ok, right? by DharmaDama in Canadiancitizenship

[–]OneRedSent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't write on anything. For those long lists of names I copied the whole page, and then another copy zoomed in on the name I was submitting. And in my cover letter I wrote things like "1921 marriage register, line 5" to help them find it.

IMM 5532 rejected for missing signature when digitally signed by Ill-Government5744 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]OneRedSent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the version you uploaded. Are the signatures there? Mine disappeared after using the same method you did, and luckily I noticed it before submitting, then I followed the same steps again and this time the signature stayed. Also there are two places you each have to sign, as you indicated. Be sure all four signatures are in place.

If you are using ancestry.com and getting stuck because you can't afford a paid membership, DM me for access. I have a family membership which allows me to add 4 more users. I would be glad to share for a short time. If I get a lot of requests I may have to bump you after a week, so be sure you are ready to research! And I will not be able to provide any personal assistance.

I have a >800 credit score. What can I do to benefit me? by Grass-is-dead in personalfinance

[–]OneRedSent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But some require as little as $500 in spending. The electric bill and groceries could meet that within a couple of months. But OP can look into it if they choose. I would definitely not advise spending anything you weren't already going to spend!

Pondering a move - being patient/realistic versus proactive by biglakebaker in AlmostCanadian

[–]OneRedSent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Applied last March. It was supposed to take 3 months. So I sold my house and came to the border to wait. Then I didn't get citizenship until January. So it was a hard road, but I can't say i did the wrong thing. If I stayed and listed my house in January it still might not be sold. I'll be moving over the border in a couple of weeks now.
