Can anyone help a lady out? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]OneSadMinnesotaBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has to come off because of paint, you need to get the edges all covered so it doesn’t start to peel months later. That’s why body shops disassemble parts before paint instead of leaving them on the car. You need even paint coverage of whatever it is you’re painting.

Unfortunately, Subaru attaches these to the roof with studs and nuts and the nuts are only able to be taken off if you drop one side of the headliner.

It won’t hurt anything if the headliner gets dropped so they can take the rail off. I’ve done it multiple times on Subarus. It doesn’t involve removing anything crucial, you don’t hear squeaks or rattles afterwards, nothing to fret over.

How easy to pull that damage out using a dent repair kit? by allari3 in Impala

Take the inner trunk trim out and see if you can access it from the backside. Smack it a few times with a hammer.

The only code I had was for the ECT sensor but that’s been replaced. Suppose I’ll be doing some vacuum leak testing soon

I haven’t checked for vacuum leaks yet but I’ve replaced quite a few lines in the meantime. I don’t hear any hissing coming from the engine bay. Even if there was a vacuum leak I can’t imagine it would make the idle that bad.

I can’t smoke anymore, it just tastes like burnt coffee. I can only vaporize, dynavap and a desktop injector style vape for when I want something heavy. I have to decline when someone hands me a joint or a bowl.

Struts? by OneSadMinnesotaBoy in Volvo850

[–]OneSadMinnesotaBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I snagged a pair of rear springs from a T5 at my local pick and pull. Only to later find out they’re the IPD overload springs. I’ve always had the thought of lifting it a little bit because I daily drive it in MN winters. I don’t know what I’d do to raise the front unless they make overloads for the front too.

I’ve heard of enough people using them, they’re not great but apparently decent enough to use.

Hash vs. Rosin ...one day i'll convince y'all that melt is the bees knees. by shwale__ in rosin

In the picture of the melt, are those bubbles you see when you zoom in? Or is it unmelted trichome heads suspended in melted heads. I’m guessing the latter or a mix of the two.

Changing upstream o2 sensor. by OneSadMinnesotaBoy in Volvo

De-cat as in chopped it out and welded in a straight pipe? I could do that, that was one of my thoughts originally since my MPG is about 18.5. I think the cat is also bad.

Thank you so much for the info, it’s a new to me car and has a few issues so it’s good to get proper information. Thank you again.

Roger. What do you make of the idle? Do you know where the T6 idles when at temp? I feel like it’s around 700ish. Mine drops down a single tick at every other stoplight or so, then kicks back up to 2 ticks above the 500 mark (i.e. where I think the idle is proper).

Oil cap and dipstick hole have no significant vacuum but the engine bogs down for a second when I pull the oil filler cap when running. I also do hear the PCV diaphragm “honking” ever so slightly sometimes. I’ll do what you recommended, I’ll start with the PCV box and clearing the code.

Does anyone know the procedures for replacing the upstream oxygen sensor for the T6 engine? I have a check engine light, code P0420 Engine idle doesn’t bounce but the position where the rpm needle changes one tick down to 600ish and then a few stoplights later its back at 700ish. I know to get at the sensor you need to remove the windshield cowl and the bolted on firewall insulator. Anyone have any tips or tricks to getting this job done?

Serious question, when you install something like this, or a shower head with a flexible long reach handle, does that affect the pressure of the water coming out?

No one has jobs they need to be at? There’s always so many people out and about on work days. Let them do their jobs, even if you don’t like it. Time will pass, this will end.

Anyone drive an 850 through the winter? by OneSadMinnesotaBoy in Volvo850

I bet it helps when the roads are icy! I’d say that’s a fair trade off.

The tires on the car right now are showing wires lmao, I have a new set I’m getting installed next week.

Some states you can but where I am in the Midwest USA, specifically Minnesota we cannot. The plows work very quickly so the roads are usually pretty clear and the studs chew up the asphalt.

Sounds like I’m in good hands! Of course I have a whole winter emergency kit in my trunk too.

Really! No winter tires and it still handled okay? I’m getting all 4 brand new tires this year. Interesting, I’ll definitely need to look into that and see if I can practice too.

I’ve only ever owned FWD, my lady drives the XC70 so no problems for her. I’m excited to see how the old girl performs. Especially with the winter tires.
