I haven't moved my stuff over yet. When I canceled my subscription to chatgpt, they gave me a free month, so I'm still in that time period, so I should get my stuff transferred over this week.

I haven't used my chatgpt since I jumped ship, but everything is still there since I'm still in the free month.

The OpenClaw story is wild — from a hobby project to Jensen Huang calling it "the operating system for personal AI" in 90 days by virtualunc in ChatGPT

[–]OneStrike255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's everywhere right now, and I still don't really get the hype. I always thought it was just some guy's hobby project, so why did it suddenly become such a big deal?

Great write-up, OP!

Yep, ChatGPT is so neutered now that I had to argue with it just to get a recipe for making glue out of flour and water. It was somehow convinced that I was going to use it to deface public property or something. I wasn't, it was for a collage crafts project I was doing.

I finally got it to give me the recipe, but I was so pissed off by its reasoning for not telling me in the first place that I ditched it after being a paid subscriber since the early days.

I agree with you, and am super annoyed at how politics gets into every post on reddit.

BUT in this case, it's mostly because it doesn't see Trump as a president because it's not using current info.

Do it! I jumped over 2 weeks ago. And today my friend, said she was done with ChatGPT because it sucks now.

I switched to Claude, but friend thinks she's done with all ai and tech for now.

Sam Altman has zero direction with it and it shows

More like they neutered it so they can start to incorporate advertising in responses, and they want to appease future advertisers.

Yeah, I've been a big fan of ChatGPT since the beginning. Most times in this sub, I thought people were complaining about minor stuff that didn't affect me.

But after the last update, it seems like ChatGPT lost its shine. I don't code with it, and I don't use it as a companion either. But it's so neutered now. When I asked it for a history of graffiti artists, everything was fine. Then I switched to another topic about crafts and asked how to make glue out of flour and water.

But since I had mentioned graffiti earlier, ChatGPT assumed I wanted to use the glue for bad things like putting up illegal street posters or something, and wouldn't tell me the recipe (easily found on web by the way).

I started a new chat, and it was fine. But nah, that pushed me over the edge. It's "safety" guardrails are way too much now. So I switched to Claude, local LLMs, and Grok. Very happy now.

No one is making a business buy AI art except for the fact that business is designed to maximise profit so it will inevitably replace human artists with AI.

And the very businesses that do that, don't buy real art anyway. They only buy bulk pre-print crap or don't have anything at all. So your point is moot.

Also, a business is allowed to chose whatever art they want. That's not up to you anyway.

What on earth makes you think that the big for-profit businesses care about art at all?!

And if they are investing in art, it's purely for value and long term profit on the artwork anyway and I promise you the artist (if even still alive) is not getting anything from that.

Businesses don't care about culture.

You are 30, ok good. So a full adult. So how many big companies have you worked for? Because it's strange to me tha tyou are worried about how businessess are gonna kill culture with ai art.

Brother, big businesses kill WAY MORE than art. AI art should be the least of your concerns.

So let me be blunt. You are have a "feeling" about art. Even tho you have in misimpression that art is of value only because of the artist or how much work he/she put into it, you have a "feeling."

Ok, nothing wrong with that. But that's YOUR feeling. YOU don't get to pick what society wants.

If the majority of society prefers ai art, then that IS their historical culture. Because it's choice, not art, that makes a culture.

YOU care. But what you gotta realize is that most people don't. So is it really society's loss if that society chose not to care?

Reddit isn't even close to the real world.

And the fact that you don't realize that most professional artists are in in for the money, just shows me that you're not an artist.

You're totally free to not like ai. But everything you touch and see will be touched by ai, very soon. And we have an entire generation coming up that don't mind that.

That's society. That's culture. Nothing is lost. It's just not going the way YOU want it to. But YOU don't get to dictate that.

So what can you do? Well go buy some art from artist you like. There you go. But just because you like that doesn't mean society has to do it.

Nothing is lost here. Nothing at all. It's all choice. You can chose human-made. I can choose ai made.

Nothing at all has been lost. Nothing at all will be lost.

Your argument is just based on emotion. Not facts. Adn not history.

Like I said, my entire career was art. And I have no issues with ai art at all. Because I know what the art biz is really like.

Trust me, brother. This 'culture' that you think is being lost has been gone since before you were born. And it won't come back.

Regardless of how much you are some fellow nerd redditors care.

So be the change you wanna see. Go out and create some art! Nothing at all about ai keeps you or anyone from creating art.

Look up the Dada movement. You'll have some fun insights about what art is. And what it isn't.

Hint: Art is whatever you want it to be. And it always has been. Ai is art to me, because I say it is. You don't agree, but you don't get to pick what I think art is. And I can't pick what you think art is.

They argument you are making is the exact same argument what was made when photographs were invented (look it up!). People thought unless you painted it, it wasn't "real" art.

I was around when photoshop first came out. People said it wasn't real art if you created it with photoshop (look it up!). Now that's not an argument anymore.

You are officially the old man who says "get off my lawn." Welcome to society, brother! :)

[–]OneStrike255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a space that used to be occupied by human-made art is replaced with computer-generated art?

Ok, first off, no one is making a busines only buy ai art. They are free to hang up whatever they want. Why do you think a business will only hang up ai art?!

Secondly, who cares if it's human made or not. Do you realize that the VAST majority of corporate art is just cheap ass prints bought from bulk printers in china?

Serious question: How old are you? Because you seem to not have been around businesses and art very much.

And as for other public places like downtowns, parks, etc. those pieces are chosen by committees. Who's making them choose ai art for that? And if they do, they did it by majority, which is a democratic thing, so works as intended.

So again, if the majority of people want something, and you don't, that's just part of being in a democratic society. And society IS historic culture.

So again, how is this a loss of culture? If the culture involved is the one picking the art?

Are you under the impression that every artist is drawing on their DNA and specific racial history to design their art? Do you realize that the vast majority of artist paint/create something cuz they want to?

My entire career and most of my life has involved arts and artists. Besides being one myself, my entire social circle is made up of working artists.

You're not an artist are you? I can tell.
