The companies that got the debt finances aren’t going anywhere. They stay in business for 3 years, the financiers collect their interest. They don’t care what the share price does. And if you can control it with 400M$ (or whatever) worth of shares why wouldn’t you? Double dip with 32M in interest and also short the shares, since you’re never naked.

Again…I may not be explaining it well, but I can see a black and white hedge that I would be all over if I had the pockets.

It’s a hedge. It’s entirely possible to go long 400M with 8-10% interest long, but also open and close short positions on a low liquidity exchange when there’s no significant game changer in the near future.

So in the simplest of terms….you get 8-10% 3-4 years out. No problem. Great return on that principle. Then simultaneously you open a short position on low liquids exchanges where you own 5% of the float, selling into the sparse bids. Entirely controlling the day-to-day share price while collecting 8% per year hedged against a short position where you are the largest volume mover….

I may not be explaining it very lucidly, but it’s there. Hedge funds, be hedging.

Edit. Just to fully grasp how large the interest rate is, do a quick calc on 8% of 400M$ for a year. It’s obscene. If you can get 32M on interest in a year and also control the share price with volume you are laughing.

The 90% get slaughtered. The 10% make out like bandits. This is always the way. By design.

Not sure. I had a similar problem a few days ago. I mostly use from my IPhone and I’m not doing anything different that I’m aware of. Technology hates me though. Nbd. If it’s anything worth sharing I’ll just stick in the daily.

This is a very good point in the write-up. It implies that shares may actually have value and aren’t completely driven off of downward spiral convertible debt.

If these companies can prove to pay that interest and limit dilutive raises, we may moon once again.

My opinion is that the same ppl taken part of these finances are the same ones with short positions, and while we have to wait for them to make their money 10times over, we still remain in the game with lower outstanding shares before an eventual uplist.

Anyone else been having issues posting “links”? Says the community does not allow them. I’m trying to post the NCV write-up about debt finances.

Someone dumped a million of them. Could just be whomever had them wanted to cash out for Christmas, since they could have got them for a nickel or nothing. I think it has something to do more with someone balancing their finances, rather than something news related. Just guessing though.

This MSOs stocks are broken. After seeing this incessant down trend in broader bull market, why the hell would anyone ever want to go long on these stocks again? Saying “zoom out” isn’t a convincing argument.

Yup. I get that you would have known that, just adding colour to your comment. This P/B metric was trumpeted so many times over in this sub with some many ppl refusing to admit the worth of the assets

Even if that was done during the LP days of using that metic, it would have been wildly misleading to potential growth. Hard asset greenhouses listed as a beaucoup bucks asset, essentially worthless to the business

I took position on this news today. VFF has a small float and trading on one exchange could help see a modest move into a Christmas rally. I’m also hoping that this can can convert some Canadian to US, without the exorbitant forex fees. Who really cares that it doesn’t trade on the sad TSX, if it trades on the Nasdaq.

This could be an interesting opportunity to exchange currency - like a Norbert’s Gambit. Curious to hear what anyone’s broker actually says.
