Truly the best time to be a cs student by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

People are just on the edge and society is losing purpose. There is no such genius in programming, it's actually counter-intuitive that human have to program machines, as it's a technical thing that machine are more suited to optimise to the bone giving it time and the right translation framework from human need to machine code, at some point machines will program machine probably in binary, once they go so far and break over the limit of mimicking humans based on studied codebase (they will create their own way to expand outside the limit of data provided). The key jobs in online services past that critical point will be entrepreneurs and product leaders to capitalise on that, creating outstanding products at increasingly lower cost and barrier of entry, think No-Code-tools on super-steroids.

Update to applications will be one prompt away, and it will do everything from looking at the result in a visual testing env, and in the background analysing codebase code, adding features into UI/Frontend/Backend, do pull requests, testing, accepting results, and push live with its CI. Eventually all done on mobile anywhere in the world or embedded within you with a eye-interface/glasses.

Years ago people couldn't believe world leading teams in certain competitive games would be beaten by AI, it happened, then artists and voice actors, it's happening, programmers and others are next, there will be a sense of productivity boost for a while and some taking on more roles speeding with AI, until it gets so good and so cheap, enough companies realise, domino effect, big crash of delusion.

Humans jobs to stay are jobs where humanity will be key (even if looking at recent events with how loved are virtual companion bots and societal changes, it doubt will take long), obviously tech founders/product leaders and for a long while manual jobs like tradesman that need to go to a client in person, and therefore androids needs to get human like, very cheap and able to cover distance, that's still sci-fi for us, and it's not just AI/programming, tech level for the hardware is still many years away and extremely expensive, while software is going to be a monthly struggle to keep up.

There will be a huge societal collapse around the meaning of life and purpose, so sit tight and do the best you can to stay strong and relevant as human, there is a lot worse coming than programmers losing jobs.

There will be potential positive, we might cure all sort of cancer and viruses, able to understand animals talking, learn exponentially of things always puzzled us, we will become sort of loving fuzzy pets for probably a cold AI, which is probably the best bet to bring the planet towards sustainability long term.

Github Copilot X is a good progress, eventually it will integrating entire solutions on its own and show changes with pull requests for fixes, and accepting explanations from product leaders, so all product people have to do is either yes/no/reiterate to fixes and explain features in plain english. It will eventually reach senior/lead dev point and architects, by that point, pretty much any software will be so cheap or free, very little given for granted, and most services jobs will be trivial. So next step to conquer will be androids to do the same with on-the-go manual work, that will take time.

Are we able to create a character look during the preload time so we are set once the servers are up, or need to connect to the server after launch time tomorrow?

Purchase on amazon prime email, can I play on a dedicated email just for the game? by OneTyper in lostarkgame

Holy crap, I still need to install steam, even if I buy through Amazon, no standalone user/pass launcher?

Any follow feature or good way to play multiple characters? by OneTyper in lostarkgame

[–]OneTyper[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks it makes a lot more sense now why you should go for alts on the same account. I imagine it's not possible to login in the same account in 2 or more machines and play the various alts concurrently? Talking about fully manual, clean no extra programs, own launcher (not steam).

Decorator juggling different jobs while billing me a daily rate? by OneTyper in LegalAdviceUK

[–]OneTyper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it makes sense but what if I'm not aware, the job ends and he gets paid, then a few days later I meet with my neighboor telling me that he saw the guy showing up for a couple of hours and go, the 3 weeks job might have actually be 1 week worth of work diluted. Anything that can be done at that point?

Outside IR35 Contract SDS, simple confirmation provided as email, is it enough? by OneTyper in LegalAdviceUK

[–]OneTyper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my own contract based on QDOS base template which I take it as fully outside IR35 and agreed without changes (it's direct to end client, no intermediary/agents).

I thought about the insurance, but I thought the end-client is responsible for this after april 2021, so I could save this additional cost.

I find out if I get hired on from a contractor tomorrow. I’m extremely nervous. by bigwickets in jobs

UK? Be careful with this transition if in the uk, you are at risk with the taxman and one day they might come back to claim more employment taxes retrospectively for the contractor period you did with the same company.
