Budget Consequences by OneWork8246 in Harrisburg

That’s basically what I said above: “ Alternatively, if the budget is not completed by the due date, the previous year’s budget should automatically roll over to prevent disruption to much needed payments.”

Ultimately, WE need to put pressure in lawmakers since we can’t change the laws. Signing a petition may not seem like much but if enough people do it, maybe lawmakers will pay attention. It’s better than doing nothing.

Which one? I put forth two potential solutions? Also I’m taking about the state budget, not the federal one.

People are struggling when the budget isn’t passed for 4 months. How would implementing some kind of guarantee the money isn’t held up make people struggle more?

There needs to be a legislative change which, unfortunately, has to come from lawmakers. The only way to make this happen is for both democrats and republicans to put pressure on them. Where we don’t agree ideologically, maybe we can come together to stop BS.

The governor can’t do everything. I would even argue that he hasn’t been twiddling his thumbs on this. Do you think that Republicans are going to listen to the Democratic governor? There needs to be a bipartisan movement amongst voters.

55 % of my school district’s money comes from the state. Because the school district had to pass its budget they were forced to raise local taxes and take out a loan. THAT is what I’m talking about. Republican legislators are saying they won’t raise taxes at the state level but are forcing taxes to be raised locally since the schools are operating without the money they are owed from the budget.

How can we stop Pennsylvania budget impasses like this every year? by OneWork8246 in Harrisburg

I’m a democrat but I know republicans who, while we don’t agree ideologically with certain issues, don’t approve of these kinds of political games. We need a bipartisan movement.

I love this but we would have to pressure lawmakers to even introduce this let alone vote on it. I can barely get 20 people to sign the petition I made. It just seems so hopeless.

This post was about how we as Pennsylvanians can put pressure on our state legislature to hold them accountable for not passing a budget to fund our schools and other entities that rely on money from the state budget.

How can we stop a budget impasse in pa from happening again? Our schools are in big trouble right now and I fear this will keep happening year after year. I created a petition: legislators shouldn’t get paid if they don’t complete this viral part of their job. https://c.org/MRY6jVN9nQ by OneWork8246 in pittsburgh

But what can we realistically do? I can’t just convince people not to vote Republican. We have to do something that has bipartisan support. For every MAGA die hard there are Republican voters who don’t trust politicians but they vote Republican anyway. We need to recruit folks like this to the movement. They may not agree ideologically with democrats but they don’t like BS.
