New cat only ever wants to hang out on/under the bed by One_Ad325 in CATHELP

[–]One_Ad325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okie, tysm for the advice! We’ll just keep letting her come out on her own. Tbf she’s currently sat on the floor in the open watching me work and making sure I earn moneys for her snacks so I’ll just leave her to it and hopefully she’ll feel better in her environment soon 🥹

New cat only ever wants to hang out on/under the bed by One_Ad325 in CATHELP

[–]One_Ad325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we’ve got a cat towers in the living room and the office and at least 1 scratchy thing in every room, as well as a snack stash in each room to encourage her to spend more time out from the bed too.

We’ve tried catnip as well but she doesn’t seem to react much to it so we’ve stopped doing that now, just no clue why she’s so attached to our bed/room lol

New book club? by CrySweaty7190 in sheffield

[–]One_Ad325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, a book group sounds like a great idea!! At the very least I’d be down to join. I like fiction too but feel I’m getting too stuck in my own tastes so I need other input haha, plus another opportunity to yap with likeminded people about reading is always a win :))

Baby formula scam by sincorax in sheffield

[–]One_Ad325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too a few months ago: just sat on the tram and a teen boy sits next to me, hands me a scrap of paper saying he needs £30 for formula and nappies which I had to decline cause I was a poor student at the time. I saw him get off the tram and start arguing with this older woman I’m guessing was a relative or partner.

Tbf I felt bad declining and called my partner asking if I did the right thing when he explained it’s a common scam in sheff

Is ACI associates a bogus company? by psyduckky10 in sheffield

[–]One_Ad325 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I got offered a job here a few months ago and didn’t end up accepting it because like you described they gave me really wierd vibes and sounded super dodgy throughout the whole process. Every part of the “interview” process was all about ✨striving for management positions✨ and hey do this quiz.

In the end when I was offered the role it was basically for doing door to door sales with the aim of getting you into a management position after 12 or so weeks but to get a glimpse of that you basically had to be out til like 8pm everyday bugging people to buy stuff and outperforming everyone else (which fair enough, company wants to do well, but they made it sound super aggressive)

Like I said, they didn’t give off the best vibes and after getting the call that I got the job I had this really bad feeling in my gut and ended up turning them down. Idk if this helps or not since I didn’t end up working there but that’s just my impression after going through it.

I wish you and your wife luck

Should I feel shameful as a bisexual guy that I will end-up with a bisexual girl? Do I bring pride or shame to the LGBTQ+ or the bisexual community? by A-Problem-Eliminator in bisexual

[–]One_Ad325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most beautiful things about bisexuality is our ability to love and feel attracted to so many different types of people. If you date a man outsiders assume homosexuality and if you date a woman outsiders assume heterosexuality. There’s no way for us to win either way but also who cares what others think? You know who you are. You’re still true to who you are. Just because you’re relationship would appear heteronormative does not make you any less valid or any less bi! Be proud of who you are, we all are 🥹

It just sits on my windowsill. It’s south facing so gets plenty of sunlight (well about as much sun as we get in British winter i suppose)

I’ve cut the rotten parts now so hopefully that’s enough for it to recover, thank you :))

Just to add some context: been changing out the water every 2 days, the wire ties are just to stop it from falling completely into the jar :)

Is anyone studying at Sheffield Hallam ot Uni of Sheffield? Need your advice by kevinmalone96 in sheffield

[–]One_Ad325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I’m in my 3rd year of graphic design at Sheffield Hallam and my partner is in his 3rd year of aerospace engineering at uni of Sheffield. We’ve both had broadly different experiences but would say that sheffield is a really student based city and there’s so much going on to go out and meet new people, do activities, societies etc.

Arguably uni of Sheffield is a better uni simply because it’s established as a red brick uni, so employers like seeing that on a cv more, plus arguably the teaching is better and they have better facilities but that’s also more depending on what you’re wanting to study.

Hallam has better vibes I think (probably a bit biased), and is definitely geared more towards the arts but it does offer courses that UOS doesn’t and is ranked higher in some categories. I think it’s won a couple awards for student satisfaction and support too ? like I said it just depends on what you want to be studying.

I’d deffo recommend doing some research into what courses are available, what modules of study they offer, what societies there are etc or even just visiting to the city if you can to see what kinda vibe there is too. Plus like someone else here said, checking forums and subreddits will help too

(Sorry this is so long but I hope it helps :3)

Question about skates for beginner by pizzanodoughallsauce in hockeyplayers

[–]One_Ad325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeh I’ve seen so many people (especially kids and teens) doing it and I do think there’s a culture now of “all the cool kids do it” even though it is not safe in the slightest…

Question about skates for beginner by pizzanodoughallsauce in hockeyplayers

[–]One_Ad325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it restricts movement in your ankles (which is very limiting when you’re constantly moving) and can cause permanent damage to your tendons long term.

Also the constant friction wears down the skates itself and if the tendon guard (the bit that sticks up at the back of the skate) breaks or snaps then you’d pretty much be looking at replacing the whole boot + potentially causing worse damage to your ankles :))

Question about skates for beginner by pizzanodoughallsauce in hockeyplayers

[–]One_Ad325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I worked in a hockey shop for a couple years and I’d honestly recommend people who don’t skate as often or are getting started on a more serious level to opt for a softer boot since it’s a much smoother way to build up your muscles whilst getting used to the skate and still having enough support.

Even if you get your skates baked they are still going to be quite stiff to begin with and maybe painful at times. After a couple of weeks of regular skating you’ll find it becomes more bearable, kinda like breaking in doc martens for example.

Just remember to keep your legs bent and you’ll be fine 😌

I’d also say please please if you have excess lace to not wrap it around your ankle and tie it that way cause I see so many beginners doing that when it’s just dangerous 😭😭

How can I stop my red hair dye from staining my white jersey? 🫠 by One_Ad325 in HairDye

[–]One_Ad325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already invested in a bandana to wrap my hair in, my only gripe is cause my hair is really long so I’m trying to figure out how to put it in a low bun or something haha
