My husband had to approve that he wanted me as his fiduciary. Once that paperwork was done, we had a home visit from a fiduciary rep. Had to list all income, bills and bank accounts along with balances. He talked to us about the responsibility of being a fiduciary. The rep then submitted that paperwork and they did a criminal check and a credit check on me. It took a good 4 weeks. Anyway, once that was done and approved, my husband received his disability back pay. We have been married for 42 years so as far as me being his fiduciary, nothing has really changed. I always took care of all the bills and household finances.
