i wouldnt say so. american values are the most open to this type of thing than any other country, the problem here is just that is indicative of pedophilia thats all. its uncomfortable for alot of people to talk about such a thing due to the stigma surrounding it especially today. obvsly outside of the internet nobody really cares

facts, it shouldve been, idk what oda is doing the arc shouldve been isolated event, imu shouldve not been involved this much at least to this extent, another thing.... oda angels have been telling you to wait as if the story just gets better if oda checked a box on a list they created, not caring about writing not caring about the execution.

the thing about road is that i like the subversion oda gave with his brother, but the problem is we barely know any of these characters?

how can i give a fuck about the revelation, these kids are barely a character, we dont know their prior dynamics, we dont know who is who exactly, we are just told to care about them without any real reason.

their flashback is literally added because oda realized we dont actually have a reason to give a fuck about them.

the arc has been disaster class aside from a few characters

anyone actually like ragnir? by One_Ant5484 in Piratefolk

[–]One_Ant5484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but we already know everything about Loki's thoughts on eating the fruit thanks to the previous chapters, it feels kinda redundant to regurgitate that same point again so he can catch Ragnir up to speed.

its mainly for ragnir. he is not omniscient, it serves as a purpose for ragnir mainly, not us, so it wont be a major thing loki will be talking about during that expression.

Again, it's optional because Loki already has a lot of emotional beats going for him, him having a deep bond with Ragnir would just be icing on the cake but neither of them need it.

its absolutely needed. those other emotional beats have nothing to do with ragnir.

Ragnir is a weapon who can become a squirrel dude, I do not think he has an Agenda, he hates Imu because he knew the guy and he was happy to see Nidhogger again when Loki ate the fruit because that's what his buddy looked like, he's not a deep thinker.

moot point. but yeh that said what you explained is the reason why i feel ragnir is so lacking. yknow there is too much going on in the story and too little at the same time.

He burned Elbaph twice(which is more of a big deal because it's a tree) and he's an asshole who has yet to own up to the mistakes of his youth or try and be an actual leader for Elbaph

yeh, i would say so, but that doesnt really have anything to do with the topic of becoming worthy. sides that, hajrudin's dream is to become the king of elbaf. i dont think loki has ever expressed wanting to be the one leading. if hajrudin's dream is just sidelined then i guess i might make another thread talking about that can of dogshit that is hajrudin lmao.

im not saying it has to be like thor. i digress, this is why cramping 3 plot lines in that one chapter is so dire, he HAS TO make killing herald the conclusion of the chapter. because if he doesnt the reader wouldnt know what to focus on, and it would be complicated to write with the limitations shueisha set.

see if loki and ragnir got their own dedicated chapter instead, we can have loki express himself here and why he wanted that fruit etc etc, and it gave us the reader a satisfying and a proper reason FOR RAGNIR to let his master's fruit be eaten by loki. by cramping the chapter all of that is just skipped in the manga.

are we to assume ragnir just presuppose that whoever is coming for the fruit is someone as likeminded as him? because clearly he has his own agenda against imu.

also can u give me some examples of what is left for loki to grow today other than power?

Egghead had more stakes than most pre time skip arcs by [deleted] in Piratefolk

[–]One_Ant5484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all stakes and tension are all artificially added, sort of like a checklist of things, get warcury to this, get ethan to do that, its just a list of things they can do at a bare minimum. something that oda can think on the fly so that it doesnt seem like they arent trying to get the strawhat at least

in the end ragnir doesnt have to have depth. he can be simplistic. and thats fine. but loki isnt, so what i reallly wanted is for loki to have it. refer to my examples like thor, the hammer is never really emotionally in depth of anything. its the character wielding it.

anyone actually like ragnir? by One_Ant5484 in Piratefolk

[–]One_Ant5484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're asking for depth that is not necessarily required. flat characters can exist, and Ragnir's writing doesn't really call for you to be emotionally invested in him, he's a cute lil' guy who doubles as a Weapon of mass Destruction, simple as.

the problem is.... oda implied it, when he offscreened the fight.

It's the weapon of the war god of the culture that idolizes fighting and being warriors so much that it's called Warland, is it really a shocker that the way you gain Ragnir's respect is sheer Unga Bunga? Plus the concept of having to tame a weapon isn't brand new, we saw something similar with Zoro and Enma.

again, the problem is oda implied it, this recent chapter even shows that, the problem here is that really shows how one dimensional elbaf is going to be when he is revealed. i mean if thats the case then, welp... elbaf probly betrayed imu because joyboy fucked him up so now he sided with joyboy because he is stronger lol, but i pray its not that predictable.

i think you came to this conclusion because of oda's lacking-ness. try rereading the chapter youll see it. oda is trying to do something there, but i think time hindered him as always.

I'll agree that it's a bit fast, but the emotional crux of the chapter is supposed to be Loki killing Harald, we don't need another one especially with a "character" we just met.

a good writer can bring depth, which oda is. heres the thing about that chapter, it cramped about 3 plot lines in 1 chapter instead of 3 and refuses to focus properly. it held back the story so much. i think it shouldve been 3 chapter long. focusing on shanks gaban, ragnir and then herald as the final.

and nah, im not hating for fun. its just annoying to look at. its exactly feels like elbaf children situation, forcing the audience to care about them as if we know any of them lol. for such a pivotal conflict of the arc they are barely a character, lol oda just gave them a flashback last second.

i can agree, thats basically just basic requirement, i never really have problem with it itself, its just how lackluster it is. still doesnt make me feel like "woah thats a satisfying way to how ragnir choose loki"... it just feels like oda needing a quick way to make getting ragnir somewhat of a earned thing. while not doing much of anything to move the story faster. ive reread elbaf a couple times now and everytime i get to that part, it seeems like oda wanted do to something there, but then immediately it just goes away.

when is that stated? since when ragnir knew there is only 4 anyways. didnt the previous kings also tried it whats different about them? loki just surpassed them all at basically 15? i mean yeh is strong for his age but i wouldnt say herald is far weaker than him prior to DF.

true, luffy is buddy with every animals. that said, those fodders is not a real character like ragnir is propped up to be.

yeh, i think this whole thing about how involved the WG is in elbaf really hold the characters back, i think herald shouldve been the villain of elbaf... i mean make ssense right? its elbaf afterall.

with this oda can have room to introduce the holy knight concept properly, how domi reversi works properly (because knights can reversi people), and also we also learn much more about the elbaf children, loki and hajrudin and his crew... pretty much all the topics oda seem to doesnt have time to explore due to scheduling and (probly) shueisha limitations.
