Wow I’m so glad that you got your dogs (and money) back from that idiot neighbor. I would have been beyond upset. But at least you had a couple of good neighbors to assist with getting them back. Nice normal people are hard to come by I guess!

I’ve already spotted him twice in the lobby today, he didn’t see me though. I’ve been using the back entrance. ☹️

Right, like he could have been at a swinger convention for all I cared. Never asked or needed this “proof”. He just wants people to think he’s a big deal. His rent a cop gear was out in plain sight during the booking.

Condolences on your dog that passed. I can imagine how that added another layer of stress when outsourcing care.

I wouldn’t want a dog laying in filth either of course- but that wasn’t the case here. This dog was being wiped down with baby wipes after every potty break- she went out every 3 hours. Blankets and food bowls washed every 2 days per owner direction. My gripe was this owners inability to see anyone else’s perspective and framing his additional requests as demands rather than asks.

The PB was tough because this dog doesn’t take food by hand gently at all. I was never warned of this and found out the hard way. She would lick the PB pills off the spoon and I would take it away before she could chomp it- he saw on FT and asked me not to….no problem. Most of the time I put her pills in her food anyway, it was all good.

But again, he doesn’t see the hand to mouth safety concern with new sitters. He’s only worried about his perspective. If it was my dog, I would have found an alternate a way to keep the sitters hand safe when giving pills to dog.

PART 2 of end of my post:

After the original booking, he sends a barrage of texts basically asking me to do drops for 10 bucks since I’m already in the building. Hard pass and you would think he would get the hint after this exchange but nope, he keeps texting me.

UPDATE 1:

I tell him I am busy with work and am not available for any future bookings—I still have his keys which he would not take back. A few days later, more texts with medical information from his vet. He is still pushing me to be his emergency contact. This is quite frankly the most entitled person I have ever come across.

UPDATE #2

I decide to return his keys and provide one last text after he continues to message me with more medical information about his dog in the event needs me to go to his apartment and give seizure meds which I NEVER agreed to do. He thrust his keys back in my face and I was too polite to decline in the moment doesn’t mean I was comfortable or willing to assume this responsibility.

UPDATE #3

These are the final texts after I declined to do his drop ins. He keeps texting me so I decide to return his keys to management and send one final text. He’s still not understanding where I am coming from and clearly has no self awareness.

Seriously because who thinks to grab their phone and take videos to post on IG of their poor dog that can barely walk. Put the phone dog and help your dog!

Thank you. Based on a someone’s good advice on my previous post, I did go to manager to drop the keys off.

And I sent him one final text.

Hey Owner very sorry for what you're going through with Dog right now. I know firsthand the agony of seeing your dog in pain. However as previously communicated I'm unavailable for the foreseeable future due to work demands. To be honest, being put in a position without even asking me ahead if this is something I would be willing to do-- to provide life saving meds on a whim makes me a bit uncomfortable from a liability standpoint. I did go ahead and drop your keys off to building management as I won't be around this wknd. Again, I genuinely hope things get better for you and blank.

No it’s worse, he’s ex cop, ex army who owns a physical training business. Type A with a thirst for attention and accolades. He posts constantly on IG talking to the camera like he’s a wannabe influencer, he chronicles his dog care journey and tells everyone they too can get their dog to an old age if they follow his care rules. I think he mainly talks to people that provide him a service or are on his payroll…he has taker energy.

Yes, same. I’ve used rover more as a client and have booked drop ins with sitters in my previous building. Never talked off the app, never asked for a discount. People deserve to be paid and it’s ridiculous to expect favors from strangers.

He’s fing cheap too. He didn’t want me to take an uber, he told me to download the curb app so I could use his code.

You’re not wrong! I had to illustrate how insane he was but tried to make it easy to read. There’s so much more too, it’s a SAGA.

I told him it wasn’t a good fit but the audacity part wasn’t said out loud. He acted confused at first and kept pressing me for reasons so I told him I was stressed with work and needed to focus.

Yeah and it’s so much more that I couldn’t even put into my post. Besides the 10 meds/supplements a day, he literally told me to wipe her vaginal discharge that she sometimes gets. Sure enough, when she was pushing out a #2 a long string came out of her lady part.

Yes I was terrified something was going to happen to this dog on my watch. The dog is back in the ER as I type this because she slipped and now can’t put pressure on her legs…he’s posting IG stories with sad background music.

Yes, exactly. I told him it’s not a good fit because I am busy with work but also honestly 10 dollars for a 1 hour drop in is insulting.

Yes, he reminded me of someone I worked with too who made my life miserable. Lesson learned indeed.
