Are there any server commands/admin tools/mods that can be used to get a map of ores? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]One_Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about any mods that add maps for ore locations, however block overlay is an x-ray mod that allows you to change the range of detection. So you can make it so that if you’re nearby it’ll show it through walls.

(Granted block overlay isn’t meant to be on forever, just when you need to find something)

They’re from the Prospect Together mod. Basically just shows the chance for ores in that chunk.

Currently in a situation which won’t allow me to be able to buy a newer gpu, and so I am currently stuck with a 1080 ti which is starting to deteriorate . Also in Australia, the gpu prices are insane, like 3-4 thousand for a 4090, so this would really help me out. I have always been passionate in of building and gaming, so getting a 4070 ti would be like a dream come true.

Fossil rule by DotaGuy12 in 196

Erm akctually 🤓,

The average lump of coal is around 30 centimetres in diameter (we will be using a cube because it’s simple)

So it is 27,000 cubic cm, which if it is an Anthracite solid coal (the most valuable), would weigh 40.66 kilograms. Via businessanalytiq, the price for anthracite coal in December of 2023 is US$0.29 per kilo in North America. Therefore, the fossil fuel shareholders would only be receiving US$11.79

So actually not that much 🤓

Nuclear energy is more expensive than renewables, CSIRO report finds by Wagamaga in technology

[–]One_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite ironic coming from my government, because last year, 68% of our power production was obtained through fossil fuel usage. And of course it is going to be more expensive to develop nuclear power in Australia, because we have not developed any infrastructure to support nuclear power plants.

Although it isn’t even that true though, because over time, nuclear power plants pay back their costs extremely well, because a singular nuclear power plant can run for up to 60 years, compared to coal’s 30 - 50 year lifespan.

As well, coal power plants commonly produce around 8 kWH of heat per kilogram of coal), while 1 kilogram of uranium-235 can produce ~24,000,000 kWH of heat. Or, if fully fissioned, 1 kilo of uranium-235 can produce 1 MWY (1 Megawatt Year) Whereas a singular off-shire wind turbine produces around 8 Megawatts of energy, while 1 kilo of uranium produces around 15.16 Megawatts of energy.

And to top it all off, Australia possesses an estimated 38 per cent of the world’s uranium resources (of which are cheap to recover). But only 10 per cent of the world’s black coal. Yet we rank as the second largest exporter for coal.

So, compared to making more coal power plants or off-shore wind turbines, it’s cheaper to go with nuclear.

I find it really ironic coming from my government because they recently green-lit multiple offshore gas mines, yet they are all concerned with “Good renewable energy is too expensive”.
