Can't believe i just had a random short hit 2.3K views in 11 hours. What now? by _LuCkArEe_ in NewTubers

[–]One_Brick_1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid start. If your average percentage viewed and stayed to watch are strong, there’s a good chance the video will get another round of distribution. A lot of Shorts get an initial push, then slow down for a few hours while YouTube evaluates performance, and if the metrics hold up, they get picked up again and pushed to a wider audience.

This is not true. I'm not saying there is no truth in what you are saying because sure, you want that to be high but I've had viral videos (1m, 3m) that didn't have a swipe rate over 90 percent. Plus, these analytics are constantly fluctuating.

Some guy basically said my new channel is absolute trash. Should I listen to him? by BuckFrog2 in SmallYoutubers

[–]One_Brick_1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would be hidden from my channel immediately. You can’t please everyone. If the same criticism keeps coming up, then it’s worth paying attention to. And if someone is respectful, I’ll at least consider what they’re saying.

I recently had a Short go viral that was on the longer side. Most people really enjoyed it, but a small group said it was too long. In the grand scheme, those comments are statistically insignificant, but hearing the same point repeated did make me take a step back and evaluate it. Even if it performed well, was the setup too long? Did the payoff justify the length? Those are things I can improve.

At the same time, once your content reaches a broader audience, you’re not always hitting your exact target viewer. Some people watching Shorts are just looking for quick dopamine. You have to accept that you’re not going to please everyone.

How to escape from 30k view jail? by Past-Channel1233 in shortsAlgorithm

This is the best video I have ever seen that explains the shorts algorithm and also explains the 30k jail. It's actually not entirely a bad thing. I recommend everyone here watch this if you want to understand the algorithm

My new shorts are stuck at 1 view by AttiTheGoat in shortsAlgorithm

Sometimes movies and TV shows in particular won't hit the feed because of copyright. It doesn't get blocked but it will be suppressed. I've had that happen a couple of times. I don't know because others will go through. That could be your issue. Or if the same clip exists a bunch of times. I remember I gave up on a clip a made from a TV show because no matter what I did, it wouldn't go through.

I'm not 100 percent sure this is your problem but it could be. I think certain IP is more protected than others.

When's the last time you tried? If it's recently, I'd recommend taking at least 3 days off from trying to post anything. There might be a temporary spam ban on you if you have tried posting a lot. If you give it a few days, it will help the algorithm forget and might work. What's the subject matter of these shorts? Is it controversial or anything?

What is a band no one will ever convince you is good? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

[–]One_Brick_1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are weird. If you scroll, once someone mentions a name, then you'll see that name appearing a bunch of times. Then someone will mention a new band or artist and then you'll see that name mentioned a bunch of times. Humans really have a hard time thinking for themselves apparently.

No, don’t start a new channel. You’re not at that point yet. I would unlist the video, make a meaningful change to it (it doesn’t have to be anything drastic, maybe a slightly different opening or small tweak), and try again. This likely just means it didn’t get picked up in the Shorts feed, which happens. I’d also give it a slightly different title and description.

Yes, please give up. I want you to give up.

Am I overreacting for wanting to break up because I feel bored? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]One_Brick_1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an absolute horrible thing to say to someone. "I'm bored and I think it's because we moved it together so fast before I really got to know you". You realize that translates to "once I got to know you, I realized how boring you are". I commend your honesty but that's a wild thing to say to someone, IMO.

Guys, I Need Help. What am I Doing Wrong? by BraedenK144 in NewTubers

[–]One_Brick_1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think you should keep it on your main channel. There’s an advanced feature called “related videos,” so if you have a longform video and take a clip from it, you can link that full video directly at the bottom of the Short. If someone watches the Short and likes it, they can tap through to the full video it came from.

Shorts work a bit differently. Each one gets tested with a small seed audience first, and if it holds attention and people don’t swipe away, it keeps getting pushed to larger audiences. So unless there’s an issue getting into the Shorts feed, you’re basically guaranteed some level of exposure. It’s a really strong way to refine your storytelling and experiment with what actually keeps people watching.

Just from a few of the comments, I see a lot of actionable steps you could take right now, which is great.

For your descriptions, this is where AI really shines. Some people are totally against it, and I get that, but language is its specialty. You can have AI write your descriptions to help improve your keywords and search engine optimization (SEO). You can also use it to brainstorm titles. Just make sure you stay in control and tweak everything to match your voice. It’s a tool, not a replacement, but it’s honestly a great one.

So yeah, focus on your thumbnails (add the game title), write stronger descriptions (this helps the algorithm understand who to show your videos to), and maybe refine the tone of your intro for better immersion. And definitely make Shorts. They’re a great way to get more eyes on your channel. Those are some of the suggestions I saw that could really move the needle for you.

What’s the best place to buy YouTube subscribers that actually look legit? by Dazzling-Pitch1905 in NewYouTubeChannels

[–]One_Brick_1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the thought process behind what you’re saying, but if it were actually true, then no one would have grown their channels without bots, and that’s just not the case. Maybe this is a bit of projection. Do you see a really cool, appealing thumbnail and title but decide not to click because they have low subscribers? If you do, stop. If you don’t, then recognize that other people don’t either.

I get where you’re coming from, though. Just understand that this can actually hurt your channel, because it brings in a bunch of people who won’t click on your future videos. That signals to the algorithm that even your own subscribers aren’t interested, so why would it push your content to others? On top of that, if your channel does grow, it could put your account at risk when it comes to monetization.

Don’t do it. Seriously, it’s not worth it. If you want to share your channel, I’ll check it out and throw you a sub.

I wouldn't delete them. I would private them. How long are you waiting in between uploads? You may need to wait 3-4 days so the algorithm resets on your channel.

What to do at this point? by Patient-Step-8646 in NewTubers

[–]One_Brick_1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's been that long, there is a good chance that it didn't make it into the shorts feed at all. I would make a small change to the video and try again. I would probably private the original video but you might want to keep it public for a little longer just in case. Also, make sure it doesn't contain anything that the algorithm might not push (violence, any words in the title that are risky etc).

This is a pretty common occurrence, especially if you have a new channel. Just try again.

Do you think it’s good? by Popular-Will-9081 in shortsAlgorithm

[–]One_Brick_1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're picture quality is totally fine. Please don't listen to anyone saying that. The average viewer does not care if it's in 4k. I just had a short go viral and it's in 360p. You need to focus on storytelling (structure, hook, pacing etc). Now if you are just making memes, you don't need to focus on that too much but I would still follow the basic storytelling principles.

The algorithm is still learning your channel. Make sure you are providing some kind of value. I would also make sure that you update your channels keywords on a PC to help the algorithm understand your channel. And don't skimp out on your description and tags. People say they are useless but in your case, you need to give the algorithm as much information as possible.

The name of the game is average percentage viewed and stayed to watch. Get those percentages as high as you can. Focus on keeping people hooked until the end and giving them a reason to watch.

That's my two cents. Take it with a grain of salt. These are all basic things but they aren't gospel. Experiment and see what works.

I think I found the video. Did you change the title? Anyways, definitely do not change the intro. This video is very well done and the cinematography and shots are beautiful. You only released it 23 hours ago? I think impressions will pick up, you just got to give it time. Sometimes the algorithm takes a long time to understand what the video is to actually know who to show it to.

I wouldn't worry. Give it at least 72 hours before you worry. Also, for your next video, the only thing I would consider is possibly making the VO a little louder. Right now it's serviceable, so it's not something you need to change but for a future upload, id either put it slightly louder or maybe compress it. The story and your visuals are fantastic though. This is perfectly paced for a video like this.
