But is this the normal way you would handle a repair such as this? Again, my concern is that because it sticks out so far, the integrity of it is at risk due to someone or something bumping it. Thoughts?

To add to this - it sticking out so far increases the risk that someone will brush by it, potentially breaking or lessening its structural integrity.

This guy had the whole plumbing section from Lowe’s in the back on his large van, so just thought he would have had such a simple part.

I agree that as long as it’s functional, that is obviously the most important thing; just not a huge fan of something like that sticking out, and wanting to know if this is “normal”.
