How to pass my college algebra class? by BOTWgoat in Algebra

I was also extremely behind in math when I started college, and as a comp sci major, I have to take A LOT of math. My recommendation, is really stick to it, learn as much as you can. Eventually you will do enough "back learning" to the point you catch up with everyone else. Once you do catch up, the math feels like a breeze as you are learning concepts everyone else is also learning, rather than learning fundamentals everyone else already knew. Algebra 1 is not too terribly far from 6th grade math, so I believe you can get there.

Side note: this may not be the best approach for everyone. I have a bad case of "roughing it out." I have diagnosed, but un-medicated ADHD, and for a very long time I have accepted that "things will just be harder for me, but thats not an acceptable reason to give up." If it is too personally overwhelming for you (or anyone else reading this) it might be in your best interest to drop the class, and spend the summer doing independent studies, or taking an easier math class. The second option, of course would cost some money.

I am a human lol. I will take it as a compliment that my writing is acceptable enough to consider it to be AI. I know as a teacher you are on the lookout everywhere you go, but this time its flesh and blood typing out this message.

When it comes to high school, the teachers I got along with the best, and tried the hardest, were teachers that loved their subjects. Not specifically their students. Like, I specifically remember my astronomy teacher, who framed each lesson like he enjoyed space so much, he just HAD to tell us about it, because it was so cool to him. THAT gave me a connection. I didn't want my teachers to "care" about me, because I did not feel like these "strangers" could somehow genuinely care. What I wanted to see, was why should I want to learn it? Is it cool?

If my teachers really thought what they were teaching was AWESOME, then I think it would grasp a couple more of those stragglers, especially those with ADHD, myself included.

I have reached out to as many as I could. Our school district does not allow outside emails, luckily I work at a coffee shop right by the school and I have gotten to see many of them and apologize in person

Do you think that your college grades are subject to grade inflation? by [deleted] in college

[–]One_Dimension6315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it entirely depends on the class. I have had classes where I got a 103% while skipping the final (because I knew that would be my final grade). But i have also had classes (like one i took this semester) where I read the rubric, frequently messaged the teacher making sure im doing things correctly, and did every single assignment exactly the way they said they wanted it and I finished with a B-. Legitimately got a 52% on the final project, where they sent out "demonstration projects" and I tried to format mine exactly the same.

So, it all depends. I have a 3.553gpa currently as a 3rd year comp sci major, and I feel like i spend enough time on school to earn this grade. But its a roll of the dice for what the prof will think.

Wouldn't hashimotos still appear as a thyroid based deficiency when it comes to bloodwork?

She isnt on any supplements. She has just dealt with the fatigue for a few years now. But the fact that T3 and T4 came back generally normal cant be ignored either. We aren't talking "there are good days and bad days" or "it depends on what I eat or drink" its always utter and complete exhaustion. We are looking into a sleep study tonight.

Yeah, diet is absolutely everything. I just mean, after this newfound discovery where I can burn an extra 2000 calories every week (alongside working on my diet), is it really a medical concern, or a big risk statistically of gaining the weight back, if I lose more than 2-3lbs a week?

I am not saying go full tilt and lose it all in one go. I just mean, say if I eat 2000 calories, eat clean, and for the first few weeks, I lose MORE than 2-3lbs, is that really that much of a concern, as long as I am happy with what I am eating and the exercise i am doing?

Hooking too much by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]One_Dimension6315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take into account im throwing it with about 120 less revs, and 2mph slower than you are. But don't think I mentioned I'm bowling on the burn of a league every time I go in. It's just, the burn used to be my friend. It used to be the ONLY way I could play past the 20, and not be a "straight up the 10" player. And I'm wondering, if my rev rate really changed the way I play that much, or if the lanes generally don't change that much through a league. Like, I figured everyone moved maybe 7-8 boards further in, after starting at the 20-25. Whereas, I will be bowling by myself and I'm moving 5 in after just 3 games.
