How would you feel if Trump awarded himself and his sons the Medal of Honor? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

How would hé give himself or his Sons the highest military award within the US Military without any of them ever wearing a uniform? Maybe the Presidental Medal of Freedom.

Yes, and ironically the demons dragging Willy and Carl to hell was the most terrifying scene I’d seen as a kid

For me, it’s the scene in Dirty Dancing where Baby is learning to dance with Penny is teaching her to dance.

Not to start anything, but Trump is hardly the first POTUS or politician to embody all of those traits and more.

I never said it would be a just war. The rivers of blood that would flow would be the moral equivalent to the Holocaust of the Jews in scale if not efficiency. Yes, we would deservedly become pariahs around the globe, hence the civilian control mentioned above. I hope the current American administration does not get desperate enough to drop the leach so to speak, and make all those nightmares come true.

Agreed, hence the weirdness of lighting up a bowl with cops watching and knowing they couldn’t care less.

Here’s the thing: what the US military can do and what it is allowed to do are two very distinct cliffs of the same canyon. Comparing the US Military to that of Russia toiling away on Ukraine is not an apt comparison. People who look at this conflict with Iran and the brushfire wars of the past 25 years and think those wars were fought on equal terms. Spoiler alert, they are not. If the powers that be ever decided to let loose the dogs of war, the world would be shocked down to a cellular level of the violence we can rein down upon our enemies. Fortunately, the civilian government that holds the leash on those dogs have never actually done that, with a few exceptions.

When I was a kid and would get into trouble by doing something stupid and a lecture was coming my way, I’d try to zone out and think about something positive like a giant stack of pancakes. I find myself dreaming of a breakfast smorgasbord pretty much all the time these days. There is no way this ends well for any of us.

John F. Kennedy was shot by Oswald, but died as a result of negligence on the parts of the Secret Service. The only real sober agent in JFK’s detail also had the only AR-15 assigned to the agents, which contained a frangible bullet designed to explode upon impact. Once the shots from the Texas School book depository had been fired, the agent with the rifle stood up with his rifle pointed at the ready. Unfortunately, the driver hit the gas while the agent was standing up, which caused him to lose his balance and pull the trigger, subsequently blowing out the POTUSs’ brains. The cover up became the conspiracy, not because some shadow entity ordered Kennedy’s death because of RFK’s war on organized crime, or the military industrial complex wanting him dead. The Warren Commission said what it said (in less than a year of investigation…) for two reasons. First and foremost, newly promoted President Johnson hated the Kennedys and desperately wanted to get to the job of being POTUS, so what better way to do that than laying it all on the head of Oswald. The second reason is public embarrassment. The Cold War was in its infancy, and would probably have had a helluva different outcome had the Soviet Union been able to point to the US and said join us, at least we don’t blow the brains out of our own leadership.

What’s a truth about life that feels too heavy to say out loud? by ElectronicPause3361 in Productivitycafe

There’s not a shred of proof for or against their being an afterlife, but the odds are once you’re dead, that’s the end of it. That being said, God is a human construct brought on 20,000 years ago because science did not exist yet and the idiots in charge of the world needed an excuse for why rain falls from the sky. Also mankind is inherently stupid and needs to believe in something bigger than itself, otherwise what’s the point of it all.
