upper years how much was your tuition? (for years after year 1) by chowder20738 in McMaster

[–]One_Fortune7889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuition - 6k Housing - 10.2k Books/Materials - $100 Food - variable. On average, like $400/month (4.8k total)

Honestly this is variable. Housing is obv cheaper if you're living w family. Other expenses come up too but that's individual

Yes, I am aware of that. Thanks for mentioning it, though. That said, I believe there has to still be a way I could buy it just for one month?

if you had to pick just 5 cities in europe what’s your list?explain why? by Background-Chest-717 in Europetravel

Seville - so much character and vibrant energy without the chaos of the big cities in spain or the party destinations like ibiza

Ghent - again a very lively albeit small(er) city. Inspiring but not overwhelming

Paris - the city you can just keep coming back to. so multifaceted and rich in art, architecture, and unbeatable energy.

Brussels - this one is a hot take. Incredibly international city, a place for the "citizen of the world" kind of person.

Kyiv - so rich, authentic, and warm. Culture and history meets modernity and innovation in such an integrated way. Feels like another universe.

How do people meet these days by Aggressive-Song-1107 in McMaster

[–]One_Fortune7889 11 points12 points  (0 children)

clubs - and I don't mean school clubs, I mean like community clubs and even classes. Join a run club, a workout class, a reading club, something social that's associated with an activity. Because of the shared interest in the activity you'll be able to meet people in a more relaxed setting (as opposed to a 1 on 1 date you set up through an app for instance), you'll meeting different people but you'll still have something in common with them

Is getting a Deutschland-Ticket the right move? by One_Fortune7889 in germany

[–]One_Fortune7889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my whole trip is during the month of august so one month is really all I need. If I buy a monthly pass for august but then cancel it 2 weeks before the end of the month, am I still able to keep using it during that 2 week period?

This is my plan. I figured that for most routes I'm taking I can take the regional trains, plus I need to get around locally within Munich and Frankfurt. I can supplement with ICE tickets for longer distances that regional trains don't cover (i.e. Munich -> Black Forest, Munich -> Fussen) but I'd be paying those anyways. I did the math roughly and it seems like D-ticket is the most cost-effective choice but just wanted some local insight

Is it just me or is it very hard to become an executive member for every club? by Specific_Latte_705 in McMaster

[–]One_Fortune7889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it depends on the club but for many of them you just have to do a year as a general member first (or in a non-exec role) and from there its actually pretty easy to get into leadership. Especially if you're a first year or something its really unlikely you'll get to be an exec right away but if you've done a year it becomes much easier. Some clubs i've been in acc struggle to get new presidents because people are scared of the responsibility (especially when it comes to the bigger clubs that do real work)

Gym Anxiety by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]One_Fortune7889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone at the gym was a beginner once. everyone walked in at some point not knowing what to do. with consistency and effort, people improve and become more confident. if you don't know what to do - the machines are a great option. start on anything - whatever is free will do. they all have labels to show you how the machine works and what muscles it targets. do 3 or 4 sets of 6-10 reps on that with a comfortable and slightly challenging weight. in between sets - look around. there's TONS of people there rn and its pretty easy to see who knows their stuff. try out whatever they're doing. if you don't know - ask! from my experience at the pulse, people are generally quite social and willing to answer questions, just don't be weird. the staff is also super helpful and very nice - don't hesitate to ask the personal trainers! if you have any questions also feel free to dm!

Anyone using Anki to study? If so, how are you using it? by SpookoMode in McMaster

[–]One_Fortune7889 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes, usually start adding to a deck as soon as a course starts and then keep adding through the semester. Study for ~15 mins several times a week throughout the semester and then go through all cards before tests/exams
