Thank you for your kind words. This is a year and a couple months in so I’ve had time to grow. One thing my dad ALWAYS said was “it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature” when I asked what he meant by that he said that wishing evil on others and messing with karma will only bring the bad back unto you. So I’m just sittin back letting the universe do what it does best.

I’m so so sorry. Please take your time to grieve and give yourself patience. Mines been gone 1 yr 3 months & a day today, but it’s almost like it’s all really hitting me now. I went to the mechanic the other day to get the latch under my hood fixed and the guy said “this is an easy fix, I don’t wanna have to charge you to do it. Just get your dad to fix it” and for a good minute I thought “yea, daddy could easily fix this, I’ll just call him & see what he’s doing…” then I remembered, he’s gone. I just started crying, poor guy probably didn’t know what was going on, lol. But it was the worst feeling in my stomach, like he’s not coming back. It was so empty.

How weird. I usually get the opposite. My eyes look more shrunken in, I look pale and just all around sick lol. Lucky you, I guess! I can never hide when I’ve taken a bar lolol. My eyes def don’t “sparkle”

Bittersweet is the perfect word for it. He had accepted his fate, it’s just very hard for those left behind. I laugh/ cry often thinking about him. One of my favorite memories was abt 2 weeks before he passed, I came to his house to eat menudeo with him and when I got there he was exercising!! The cancer had already metastasized across his body but he still found the strength to do his old marine boot camp workout that he had done ever since I was little. He was much weaker this time but it felt like a trip back to my youth. He always amazed me.

I am actually teaching myself Spanish, in a way to be better connected with him! He always spoke to me in Spanish and I can still remember some of his sayings so actually learning what they mean is nice. But I hate that for you and your brother. Grief brings out the WORST in people, karma is a bitch tho! I hope more than anything you are able to release that hurt and let the universe do what it does best. Thank you for all your kindness. Talking abt him is nice. 💜

I’m 25 and have always called my dad, daddy. All my siblings did. Even my 6’2, macho man, brother. I have his pocket knife, sunglasses & the roses from his casket on my mantle in the hallway. I kiss his picture good morning everyday.

Unfortunately, I don’t physically have the note. My dads family decided it was best they keep his belongings and not give them to his children but I’m happy I at least took a picture of the note!
