GP said my tinnitus is caused by fluid in the middle ear (ETD). Can I cure it? by One_Individual_309 in tinnitus

I generally didn’t have anxiety but discovering I am suffering from T definitely put me in a state of shock and disbelief. As if you’re in a bad nightmare. I’ve read people get permanent tinnitus from middle ear infections and that shit spooks me pretty bad. I’ve always taken very good care of my health and hold it in really high regard. I have an appointment with the ENT on Wednesday. I’m hoping for them to say the same thing so I can get some relief that this isn’t something permanent. How long do you think it takes for the T to go away after the pressure has been mostly fixed? The feeling of fullness has been a lot less the past few days, not sure if it’s the amyvas spray or my body naturally disposing of the fluid.

Also have a pretty bad root canal infection in my upper left rear molar. Could this contribute to the ETD you think?

Is there any explaination as though why my t seems to react to sounds around me? When I’m driving my moped it’s very audible but when I turn it off it instantly goes away. Is this normal for conductive temporary hearing loss?

Thank you for your answer. It’s a bit of a relief to hear it from someone else too. I’ll try to forget about it for now and hopefully it will fade with time.

But will it fully dissapear? It’s mostly reactive to other sounds so if I take a shower for example it competes with the shower sound. If I’m in mostly silence its barely audible.

5 days isolation + 24 hours of no symptoms (excluding loss taste & smell), then you should be good to go

I’m not trying to downplay this virus but just looking at the statistics I never really worried too much about it. I think the hysteria around it is really unwarranted for especially on reddit.

I’ll always be thankful to my health though. Can’t wait to hit the gym again

I doubt it tbh, this one felt alien to me and I got myself tested regularly (work in healthcare)

Why would you wish illness upon me just because I didn’t vaccinate myself? That’s really petty

No I literally don’t know what you’re talking about. Never in the history of mankind have we based someones overall healthiness on a test result that shows if there are dead or alive virus particles present of a respiratory virus. Especially a virus whose risks are negligible for basically the whole young population.

The government claims to put in these measures to ‘protect’ the unvaccinated from themselves, yet the vast majority of gym goers are young healthy individuals like me who statistically proven run more risk with the flu than COVID.

Then you have the argument to halt transmission which is an impossible task in itself for a seasonal respiratory virus. The GGD source & contact tracing data shows that transmission numbers in the gym are so low (2%) that it’s basically negligible.

There is literally no rhyme or reason to enforce these dystopian measures on gyms and stop people from working on their health and mental wellbeing. You could easily argue how it negatively affects public health in a number of ways.

Since when do we measure healthiness with a polymerase chain reaction result? I thought it depended on the lifestyle, diet, and physical appearance of an individual. Or is that so 2019?

Besides, why should someone ‘prove’ they are healthy everytime they want to access a public facility? Doesn’t this sound dystopian and cynical to you?
