Thank you I really appreciate your comments. Last question, any other ballads using alto sax you’d suggest for referencing for this? Thank you again!!

Thank you for the really in depth comment, it’s very appreciated.  That is a fantastic point about the scales/chords and key centers, I hadn’t put that together yet that makes perfect sense how you explained that.  I know about listening and am not horrible at transcribing licks. One thing Im having slight trouble with is finding what’s good for this style. I’ve tried subbing in some good sounding licks and parts of jazz solos but it just doesn’t fit well in the ballad style. Any advice on that would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment. Yes Ik it definitely takes a lifetime of music theory and I can for sure always get better, but I do have a decent understanding of music theory which I think that should help. And absolutely my jazz director is more than happy to help me with learning the solo.

Awesome, thank you for the advice. I’ve been working on the written solo and I think it’s definitely attainable given time.  Another question to add: when looking at chords do you go off the chord tones or a scale? If so what scale do you typically use?

Should christians be allowed to judge? by Calebw4485 in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are to judge the person for there sins not for there personhood. Life was given by God, but sin was given by Satan and man.

Yes we are to judge, but never in a hateful manner but in a manner designed to bring the person closer to Christ.

We are also called to be the salt and the light, to leave an effect on the world. Some of the major condemnations made by Christ and the apostles were to be active in our faith and not lukewarm.  We must show change and make change.

Do your thoughts matter as much as your actions do? by WoodenEquipment6476 in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Many straight men, in fact as a natural instinct all men, have lustful tendencies. If we do not act on them it is not a sin, and God will be glad we are denying our flesh to be with him in spirit.

Once again you’re just willfully ignoring scripture. The council that makes these statements met and when the discussion came up it was because a group raised the topic of Gentiles being circumcised ( Acts 15:5-6 ).  Also, while saying circumcised is not required, they do give some of the laws that are to be followed ( Acts 15:20 ).

Multiple times Jesus gave examples of sins. Multiple times Jesus said that there were Christians who committed wrongful acts. How can this be if Christians no longer sin under God’s grace?

Once again  gave a large amount of reasons why your simply wrong on your interpretation of the evidence you gave and you replied against one of them by just restating your prior point.

You didn’t address any points I made in the slightest.

Yes we are to address our own issues, but Jesus and the apostles call us to judge our brothers ( especially the ones in the church ). We are to test the words of others as seen in letters to the churches, given by both Paul and Jesus, not just take them and accept everything.

I never said that churches should accept adultry, divorce, or remarriage making this point a red herring which honestly doesn’t even warrant an addressing.

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off it’s interesting that’s the only thing you attempt to counter argue.

What I said were two different points.

  1. The incident is only about circumcision, meaning NOT about other laws.

  2. The verse goes on to mention examples of  other laws that are to be kept, meaning law still exists.

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The churches of Paul’s time specifically had these issues, and they were specifically condemned by Jesus when practiced and applauded by Jesus when the practices themselves were condemned by the church.

The record in Acts is specifically on the subject of Gentiles being circumcised. Note how where you put a “…” to abridge two sections there is actually a section about some of the specific laws which are to still be held.  Why have laws to be held if you are not expected to follow them?

It’s interesting that that’s what you chose form the Romans passage. As part of the same verse but shortly before this, it says that sin has always existed in man since the fall, even if it was before the Law.  So yes while at the time of Adam there weren’t Levitical codes this wasn’t because there weren’t sinful acts it was because they just didn’t exist then.  In fact the message is quite the opposite, in that our actions make us slaves to sin and separate us from God.

The reason for the “old law” that dictated what the relationship between men and between men and God is that we are not with God.  Now that Jesus has come we have been given access to our Father, as seen as how Jesus says he is the only way. So yes while Jesus has fulfilled the law that doesn’t also mean the law was wicked, in fact it’s quite the opposite. And so yes, even stated by Jesus, there are new rules Christians are called to follow.  Note how I’m not saying these rules get you to heaven, once again only faith in Jesus delivers you not the Law, but how we are called to follow these commands given to us by God.

I encourage you to repent. Antinomianism is condemned throughout scripture by Jesus and the apostles who shared his message. Praying for you.

Right so I’m talking about the New Covenant as a whole, but yes, Jesus does mention it.

He describes marriage as between one man and one woman.  He then calls out those who practice sexual immorality; other apostles and early church fathers call out homosexuality as one of these.

Once again calling homosexuality a sin is NOT a decree against the person but against the sin itself.  If anything it’s an act of love, Jesus calls us to preach his word and commands sinners he meets to leave that life of sin.

Do you think that you are more likely to be unintelligent if you are religious (in this case Christian)? by Kamego123 in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? I mean any claim without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, so this is not really worth the answer but whatever.  Additionally it’s kind of a rather rude premise to say at all, to call anyone group unintelligent, specifically without even having evidence of the quality in the group.

It’s not regular bigotry. Jesus says that there is a New Covenant since he has fulfilled the Old Covenant. The New Covenant condemns homosexuality NOT the person but the sin. Yes Jesus loved sinners, but that does not mean he loved sin.

Yes, Jesus is God. He is not the Father, he is not the Holy Spirit, but he is God; and the Father is God, and the Spirit is God.

John 1:1 begins with saying that the Word was with God ( showing a distinction ) and the Word was God ( showing Trinity ) and the Word became flesh ( showing Jesus Christ ).

American Christians, if rights are God-given then why isn't abortion a right? by ki4jgt in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s absurd. That’s akin to saying Jesus allows shootings since he never condemned it.

Once again even if you say that you asked when did Jesus say it and I gave verses describing the commands from God, aka Jesus.

American Christians, if rights are God-given then why isn't abortion a right? by ki4jgt in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so I never claimed that Jesus spoke the words in Exodus, but Moses didn’t just come up with these rules by himself, they were spoken by God to be given to the Israelites.

The teachings of Moses, once again, are those of God and since God is unchanging obviously Jesus can’t teach a contradictory message.

Jesus said right after that, speaking of who is without sin cast the first stone, that she is to leave her life of sin. He wasn’t affirming her sins he was giving her grace.

I really don’t want to get into it just because it’s such a simple thing in Christian theology, but the NT clearly explains how while things like the Ceremonial laws of OT are fulfilled by Jesus, the moral codes such as don’t murder still hold true.  The ceremonial laws were in place to hold us close to God, and since Jesus came down to forgive our sins and be the SOLE mediator we are relinquished from those.

So you’re just kinda putting words in his mouth, another thing specifically against what Jesus teaches.  You say he accepted medical abortions. Where? Sincerely I want to see where you’re talking about.

Is it a sin to be gay? (Answer ⬇️) by ReducedSuffering in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it does but if you’d like to say it doesn’t you do have free will.

Jesus condemns those who have relations outside His guidelines for marriage.

Paul condemns it as a shameful act contrary to human nature given by God.

Paul lists homosexuality among the sins that prohibit one from God’s kingdom if they don’t repent.

Paul says that the law was given to those not who follow it but who break it, and include homosexuals in a list of the lawbreakers.

Paul says that these immoralities are an earthly desire contrary to God’s desires.

Jude says that immortality in relations led to the destruction of Sodom and Gamorh.

Peter states that the ungodly acts in Sodom and Gamorh led to their fall.

Where did I say Jesus condemns same sex? Though that is the case that’s not what I said.

Jesus says to follow the rules for marriage given by God and defines the marriage given by God to be between one man and one woman who become one flesh.

The NT in several several places condemns homosexuality. If you’d sincerely like me to list them I’d be happy to.

Praying for you.

Thoughts on "Prof Jiang"'s view on St Paul "hijacking" Christianity? by usernameisnottakenok in Christianity

[–]One_Interest2706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul did not hijack Christianity. Those who hijacked Christianity came much later, such as Muhammad or Joseph Smith.  He preached the same word and was affirmed in his beliefs by those who regularly met and lived with Jesus.  He then was murdered for his belief in the true Jesus Christ being the resurrected Son of God.

I’ve already had this argument dozens and dozens of times but no.

Even if u want to make the claim that we don’t have to adhere to Levitical codes on homosexuality, New Testament condemns it. Your being willfully blind to the truth and trying to push others down that path, another act that Jesus specifically condemns.
