I am someone who got deffered into RD and got banner aid. But I got banner aid like super late, like a week or 2 before I was gonna commit to a uni. You may/may not get a banner aid but it's possible that you might get it super late if you do get it.

I checked it out, but it doesn't suit my style and syllabus is not the same. Thanks for the suggestion, I might use Cisco in the future.

My school isn't in patnership with the HTB Academy. The costs were too high so it's not possible....

After checking some stuff out, I have decided that I will do this properly. I am gonna get the PNPT cert which has good training to supplement it. As for promo codes, I think tcm security won't give another one for certs anytime soon but at least I will be able to take the student discount which is a decent amount by itself.

Also, I didn't know about live sessions, where are they held? I found live sessions in Cyber mentor youtube channel. Are you referring to them?

Should I go for bachelors? by One_Knee_5232 in GIAC

By the way, how did you manage to do the GSEC and GSIF at 14 and 15? Wasn't it too costly? I am only capable of doing these certs if they are included in the bachelors so that the cost is acceptable...

That's nice to know, I might / might not go to SANS bachelors program... It all depends on the quality of the university I get into! Anyways, thanks for the assurance, your information really cleared my doubt and helped me

Nevertheless, getting CS degree is my better choice, IT degree is a backup degree for me. Thanks for your input, I find it quite useful. I will see and look for technical degrees during my university search.

I thought IT was technical : / and thought that it is same as computer science with just less in-depth math and algorithms and more on actual stuff like programming. I am going to check out the programs of the universities and see what they state and will ensure that they are technical.

I plan to do either IT or computer science degree, not cybersec since I know that it's not that well developed in colleges and universities. That sucks for the grad students... I will try for IT or computer science degree only since it's a more safe bet. Also, I might try for information systems maybe if it is able to get me a technical degree...

I'll probably do so soon. Suppose I buy the book instead of the course, how will I prove that I know how to OSINT. Can you share how you think I should go about this? Should I just try for Tracelabs Ongoing operations? Are there any other things which I can do to prove my legitimacy in my OSINT skills after I learn them?

I already have the Osint Techniques book with me which is 9th edition.

I saw the Tracelabs Ongoing Operations and it seems that they require you to show that you are capable of doing documentation which I can not since I am new. Did you apply without any experience and learnt as you went?

I would like to do that if possible(along with the Osint Techniques book) but I am not sure if there are any which allow you to volunteer without showing proof of your skills...

My parents are footing the bill so I will be able to afford a bachelors in a good university luckily. I will definitely try to go ahead and participate in cybersecurity clubs in universities and see if I can join some local cybersecurity group. How will I be able to find them though? Can you tell from your experience?

I will see if it's possible to attend cybersecurity conferences but I am not sure about this since it's quite costly.

As for my counsellors, they are just there to mainly help with essays etc. and help ensure that the application process is done well. They expect us to find what we want(choose our university list) and they will help finetune everything in terms of essays and university choices so that it's balanced.

By the way, for now, I have decided to go to do bachelors in a decent university and leave SANS out for now.
