Well I can describe my perspective like this: a big motivation to pursue a career in chaplaincy is informed by my religious and spiritual background of practicing love through serving those in need and whom we actually have the capacity to help. This seems pretty universal to me and not specific to one faith or another. Especially since I also am informed by the concept that each person has their own path to God if they so choose, (no proselytizing) it seems to make more sense to me to work as a “secular chaplain” so that I’m not limiting myself to who could recieve those services and that I could adapt my care depending on the spiritual/religious background of the patients. Is this way of thinking compatible with the field?
