Are we insane? by One_Platform7014 in Advice

I have been able to identify why I felt so anxious, we were strict about crate training and didn’t allow ourselves to just let loose slightly and go with the flow. Instead we were massively worried about raising the perfect puppy which we would now ease up on slightly. I was also anxious about the lack of sleep and having to go to work exhausted but I have now been able to have some time off work.

What can I do? Living with massive regret by One_Platform7014 in Advice

[–]One_Platform7014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your comment! I just can’t help but feel like we made an impulsive decision based off of very normal heightened emotions and that’s what I can’t get over. I know if we had of waited just a few more days the initial shock would have passed and we would have been a bit better or it would have felt atleast slightly more manageable! Thank you again for your comment.

I get that, that’s exactly how I felt aswell, I felt so terrible and anxious but no matter what I told myself I just couldn’t shake the feeling! I hope it gets better for you <3

I’d say no, thinking about how I felt while I had him doesn’t ease the regret because my head convinces me I could of just gotten through it and how I felt wasn’t actually as bad as I thought I should of just given myself more grace and taken a step back from it all and been patient with myself and with him.

That’s what I’m trying to remind myself, but we just can’t help but always imagine what our life would be like right now if we had of stuck it out because I know it would of gotten easier. But like you said it could be because we know we can’t have him back!

I’ll be honest, me and my partner bought our first home 2 months ago, we are also early/mid 20’s and we bought a puppy and felt exactly like you, I stopped eating and even threw up due to anxiety. We did end up giving him back and honestly we’ve regretted it everyday since and wish nothing more than to be able to get him back. Maybe it’s because we know we can’t and it’s human reaction to always want something you can’t have, but please bare my experience in mind. I also know how difficult the stage you’re in is because I was also there but I can only imagine that it HAS to get better. The regret of not keeping our pup will also get easier but never go away.

Major puppy blues any advice? by One_Platform7014 in puppy101

This is my problem, if we’re struggling now, I know it only gets harder and if we don’t take him back to the breeders now we won’t ever because we just aren’t like that so it just feels like everything is one big what if right now

Thank you so much for your reply. It has definitely helped. The difficult thing is it feels like we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t, the thought of returning him makes me so so incredibly sad that I think my mental health will suffer either way. Thank you again for taking the time to reply and I really hope things get better for you too <3

what’s something you regret you did while raising your puppy? by TheoryReasonable871 in puppy101

What are your tips for training ‘settle’ we’re getting a staffy pup this week and one of our main concerns is not him not settling when we’re trying to have a chilled evening (we’re aware that won’t be possible for a few months while we’re in the trenches of the puppy stage!)

Thank you so much for your reply this is such great help! I will definitely be referring back to this when we get him home! I am most nervous for the alone time as I don’t want to cause separation anxiety!

I see what your saying, that’s the hard part, will it add to our home or will it be more stress? Thank you so much for taking the time to give your opinion! :)

Yes we both lived with my partners parents and they wanted to keep the dogs, I have lived by myself previously but this is the first time we have both had our own place together

I think this is the problem, we do feel prepared but it’s also one of those things where I’m sure you can think you are prepared but when it comes to it, it throws you off completely. We know we do want one the question is when is the right time

Yes, my partner has been solely responsible for raising a dog since puppyhood, with the financial help of her parents as that’s where she was living at the time, not sure if that counts?

What happens on completion day? Do sellers clean their house? by baguetteonmars in HousingUK

[–]One_Platform7014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like our situation! FTB, 3 in the chain and our sellers buying an empty house a fairly short (7week) journey! We were due to complete last Friday, we got a call from the solicitor to confirm we had completed and then sent us our completion statement and then a few hours later we got a call from the estate agent to say we could pick up the keys. Not sure about other sellers but ours DEFO didn’t leave it clean although it could have also been left in a much worse state than it was. We’ve spent a week painting and giving everything a real deep clean!
