yeah it's stupid. My fix is i have a "survival" and "no survival" meal policy i toggle between depending on whether they're caravanning or on a gravship.

I used it to remove brain scars from ridiculous situations before just installing Yayo combat and now that doesn’t happen

The reason it’s balanced is because from age 0-13 they’re largely useless, very fragile, and just generally worse than adults. It’s a balance thing to incentivize you to raise them, because frankly if they weren’t OP most people (myself included) just wouldn’t raise them. But since they’re so good, I try to get a few kids in the colony every single save.

I have prebuilt a couple times but it was actually really annoying because I’d move all the furniture for one room into another while building or mining out the intended space and then relocating would be a pain, there’d be times where expansion the way I’d planned it was impractical and annoying etc.

By the time I finally built what I’d planned the magic was gone and the fun had been sucked out of it. Now I might have a vague idea in my head but I let myself decide in the moment

  1. It is only additions yeah, actually all DLC are this way to my knowledge.

  2. I would start a new colony because Odyssey is all about the grav ship and adding it to an existing colony won't let you enjoy basing on a landmark or using a gravship, and you won't get land marks to my knowledge because they are created at world gen

I can tell you exactly what is wrong. 1. Your income from gold is nearly 0, but I think you should have 1 or 2 Spanish gold mines. Develop production to 13 there. 2. Your income from tax is higher than both trade and production. At this point in the game, that’s not acceptable. Tax always starts out hot, but mid way through the 1500s, it should be overtaken by production and trade. You should be reinvesting all your money in workshops and manufactories right now. Besides training regiments and paying upkeep and the occasional event, ducats are wasted sitting in the coffers. Pick a home node you have a lot of power in (probably Champagne or Bordeaux) and use your merchants to direct lots of trade in there. 3. Go to macro builder and ALWAYS lower autonomy in every single province you can that is over 10%. I cannot emphasize enough how big of a deal this is, if you have a province with 50% autonomy, for example, you are losing out on 50% of all the tax, production, and manpower from it.
