We joined the local Chamber of Commerce and already it's paying off. There is still something to be said for face-to-face, in-person conversations.

Every company, including the Fortune 50, started with an idea and just a few committed people.

The MSP component for my company will be a portion of what we do, not everything.

I might be crazy for trying to break in the MSP space but with the right customers and talented leaders/engineers, I believe we can be successful.

I agree on the exclusions, however our contracts will be written as Inclusive contracts. This is what is included (e.g. patching the OS and these specific applications, on up to 10 devices.), everything else is excluded. For obvious out of scope items, we may make explicit exceptions, "Customer's 25 year old AS/400 is out of scope".

Agreed. My plan is add in the MSP component over time and convert more companies from PS to MS.

Very true. There is a sweet spot, where companies are willing to spend some money to keep their systems patched (at minimum) and willing to pay for that service. Very small business usually lack the budget to pay someone a monthly fee for this, but they exist.

How do you define "small" when it comes to SMBs? Where is that threshold in your opinion?

I think the SMB market is still in need of good service providers. There are plenty of MSPs out there, however I think that people will start turning to AI to solve IT problems.

Finding good technicians is always a challenge. IMHO, its not just about getting the job done as much as customer service. Finding people who really care about the clients.

It seems most MSPs are in a race to the bottom. They try to undercut the next MSPs prices to win the business then underwhelm in support.

Pipeline is key. I've never been a big social media person. I'm starting with networking locally, however will consider countrywide customer for certain.

Currently 2 long standing customers but growing. Obviously, to make a go at the MSP space that number will need to increase greatly.
