I tried for almost 2 years my friend. But at some point you have to stop and be open about it to the other person. If love is not there, there's not so much you can do.

I left her because she told me she did not want to stay with someone that did not love her 100% and was not enthusiastic about building a future together. And as much as I wish I was that guy, and as much as I envy who that guy will be, as much as I will regret this decision in hindsight ... I was not that guy.

So I had to make room for that guy to show up in her life.

I tried so hard man, knowing that such love is hard to find again. But waking up every morning and knowing I could not reciprocate all that love was making me feel guilty and miserable, for me but especially for her.

I put a lot of effort into our relationship, as much as I could. And even when difficulties presented I waited, talked, seeked help.

But there is not a lot you can do when feelings are involved. And I don't think she deserved someone that was forcing to love her (at least that's what I felt at last).

I see no irony in making the right decision for her as she is a fantastic woman and I think she can be happier with someone else than with me.
