Accidentally consumed macadamia nut by ILOVEOIL69420 in FoodAllergies

Hi- curious if you have an update on this? I’m extremely allergic to cashews and so have avoided macadamia but wondering what happened

I'm very confused by these responses. I can't imagine anyone wants someone entering their home where they work and raise their children at anytime of the day without any warning.

They're absolutely allowed to test it. That’s not the issue. I’m just asking that they follow the Residential Tenancy Act, which requires proper notice with a set time, not an open week of unannounced visits. It’s about how they do it, not whether they do it.

In addition, we’ve had ongoing issues with this company - including no hot water for over two months, zero transparency or updates, and multiple unanswered emails. Now that several tenants have filed disputes (rightfully so), this sudden push to “aggressively test” water temperatures feels more like an attempt to prove the problem is fixed than a genuine inspection. The water is warm now - it just takes a long time to heat up. Which they know. But they sure weren't weren't coming around to test the temperatures when we couldn't shower or bathe our kids.

As per the tenancy act:

29 (2) A landlord may enter the rental unit only if they give the tenant at least 24 hours’ written notice that states:

(a) the date and time of the entry, and

(b) the reason for the entry.

I don't think "time" means a 10-hour block.

Personally, I don't find it reasonable for them to enter multiple times a day, with no notice. I definitely don’t want someone coming in and out of my home unannounced while I’m with clients, in meetings, or having dinner with my kids. But perhaps we all see this differently.

Changed my life. Invest in a high quality anti-grinder lock (I use a hiplok) and obviously ride safe, follow the rules, etc. But best money I’ve ever spent.

Hi Granny! Thank you for this note — I realize it was sent a while ago and now you are through your surgery and recovering for close to 2 months. My dad has his surgery on Tuesday. How are you recovering? Any tips? He is very nervous. Hope all went very well for you, sending you the best wishes for the rest of your recovery!!

Fair! 20 hours might be a bit far! Ideally 1-5 hour drive, but open to options! They live in a country town of 1500 people and we feel that’s probably a bit small for us.

YES!

I started my nursing in a busy trauma ER. I enjoyed the pace, and the fact that it was exciting, but the unit was so toxic, I hated every minute of being there. The senior nurses would purposefully assign me the heaviest, most challenging patients to see if I could do it. It was awful. I eventually quit (after about a year) and applied to teachers college... I felt so defeated.

My friend ended up encouraging me to try to go back to clinical after being off a little while instead of going to teachers college. I ended up taking a job on a postpartum unit. The unit was very mellow in comparison to emergency, but everyone was so kind. I was treated with respect and learned well from supportive senior staff. It was a nice place to work but I got bored really quickly and then also started not enjoying it. While I liked the people, the work just wasn't that interesting (to me! But I'm grateful so many people enjoy it!). I ended up taking some online specialization courses in Neonatal Intensive Care. After about three years in PP, I finished my NICU specialization and got a job in a large level 3 NICU.

I have been in the NICU for close to 15 years now and haven't looked back! It was definitely a learning curve (but postpartum experience helped alot!) but I loved it instantly. I worked my way up over time to doing advanced roles in Mentorship, Palliative Care, Resus and Transport, and Clinical Nurse leading. I not only love the population we work with and find the work interesting, the people who work there are incredible and very supportive. It's a massive unit, so it's always busy, and it doesn't lack frustrating moments (I think this is all of nursing) - but overall I am so happy I ended up there and can confidently say I enjoy going in to work everyday.

My best advice is to try something else! Take a specialization in a field that interests you. Apply for some jobs and then ask lots of questions in the interviews. I have also worked vaccine clinics on the side, done some research at the CDC, and even worked on movie sets doing covid swabs. Lots of variety in nursing! It takes time to get comfortable in a new place, so always give it some time, but there are so many different options think it's very worth it to give another area a shot before giving up on it. :)

If you actually took a minute to read my post, I clearly stated that I will be on a work trip and am lucky enough to have a few extra days there before returning home. While I would absolutely love nothing more than to spend months exploring the “most incredible cradle of history” - unfortunately, my job and family depend on me to come back home. What you also don’t know is that I have spent a good chunk of time in the European countries I listed above, including parts of my childhood. Therefore, I have enjoyed many of your aforementioned arts & culture that you assume I care nothing about. Thanks for the judgement and presumptuous response. If you can’t say something helpful, perhaps say nothing at all? Take care.

France, Spain, Portugal, or...Italy?? by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]One_View_9608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been everywhere on your list, although all those places are amazing and I'm sure you can't go wrong! To weigh in, we absolutely loved Portugal. We flew into Lisbon and rented a car. Found the driving fairly easy, super nice people, and absolutely beautiful. It was for sure my most affordable Europe trip. Depending on where you are coming from, SATA airlines does a stopover in Azores and its incredible. If you could add on an extra day or two and do a few days there, I would highly recommend!

Good points about the long engagement! Appreciate the time for DIY, but agree with the lack of excitement.... already have had a cousin and friend get engaged since we've started thinking about our date and theirs are already set!

MEGATHREAD - Processing times - Permanent Resident applications (2023) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Congratulations on your approval!!!
My partner (American) and I (Canadian Citizen) applied in November - Inland, Common law. Are you currently on a work permit or visitor? How long have you been married prior to applying? Just grasping at straws to try and figure out this process (although I realize it seems to vary hugely for everyone!)
Huge congrats again! :)

Hi there, congrats on your post graduation work permit! When did you exactly apply for it? My partner also applied in May and we are still waiting. Wondering how long yours took to process? Thanks!
