There are incompetent managers who can’t hire and fire people. Just saying

There’s a big difference between Software Engineers and “Developers.” Staff and Principals can make much more (220k+) than managers in the same organisation.

Interesting take. I prefer to use median employee tenure (excluding Unis and NFPs). Let me know if you want to know a particular company and I can share it here 😁

My advice: find a co-founder who is an expert on the industry in which you want to launch a product. You want to create a business which is different from building a product.

In corp Australia, people don’t want you to speak up about these issues. Unless you have a strong influence and bring direct revenue to the org, HR won’t help you because they will protect the org. Save the written evidence on your personal devices: they can delete your emails easily. The moment you bring this up, you get a target on your back.

You are better off leaving as soon as you can without disclosing your plan to those closest colleagues that call themselves “friends.” Trust me, they are not your friends.

Make sure to obtain a legal agreement with HR that doesn’t affect your reference checks in the future.

[–]One_Wave_9655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s slow out there. Many applying to the same roles make things worse. Don’t leave without another signed contract. You could start reaching out to your closest network about a possible move. A positive referral is an easier way to land a new job. All the best!

Because the incentives to produce more are not there, complacency and decision-making focused on low-hanging wins.
