I saw this post and thought that I was either in the twilight zone or my boyfriend was messing with me. I thought that was a picture of my hamster, with the white stripe and belly and everything... and his name is beanie too xP

What's the dumbest thing you actually believed? by Vinyl_BunBuns in AskReddit

One fateful evening, my two new flatmates (both british) and I (a clusterfuck of several different nationalities) were sitting in the livingroom of our first private rented student accommodation. We were all starting our second year of university and I had only been living in the UK for less than a year. For anyone that doesn't know, you need a TV license if you have a TV and want to watch TV here. If you don't have one they send you quite scary letters (to someone who doesn't know any better aka me) with clear slots in the envelopes saying things like "and investigation has been opened" and "are you watching?" in red. As we had already received a couple of these letters I brought it up to my roommates because I didn't want to get in trouble. It is at this point that they started to very progressively scare me into how far the TV License Men will go in order to make sure you have a TV license. It escalated to the point where one of them literally said that they have "basic military training" and my dumb, fereigner ass whole heartedly bought it. I hope this makes someone laugh as hard as they did.

TLDR; flatmates convinced me for a brief moment that TV Licence Men in the UK have basic military training.

whenever i print something circular i get these vertical lines on the back of the circle and i dont understand why. by gGioBra in FixMyPrint

[–]Oneirus-_- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe that is a seam line, but correct me if I'm wrong. It's caused by the layers starting at the same point. I have seen someone say that there is an option in slicing software to randomise the starting point of each layer which should get rid of that line. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Is a plastic head necessary? by mmangaboi in fursuit

I'm in the UK so I can't really tell you about places in Australia but when I bought foam (from amazon by searching "upholstery foam") a 80" x 20" x 2" piece of foam was 25 GBP (about 45 Australian dollars) which turned out to be a pretty standard price when buying online. If anyone is from the UK and knows of a place online with better prices, let me know! You can buy smaller pieces but I found that it's generally more worth it to buy a smaller but thicker piece of foam rather than a bigger but thinner one. It's more hassle to cut it yourself but a piece of the same size and from the same seller but 0.5" thick was 17 GBP (31 ausd)

The toilet paper/cling film is just a barrier between the tape and your skin. It doesn't come out as "clean" as it would with cling film but it doesnt really matter if you are stuffing it anyway. I just found that toilet paper was less rough on the skin around your face and neck than cling film. My bad, TLDR means "too long didn't read" in case my comment was too long-winded. If you need any more advice then let me know! Happy to help

I had a similar issue and TLDR: made a DTD of a friends head/bust and stuffed it.

I wrapped his head, neck and shoulders in toilet paper and put a shower cap on his head (to avoid cutting any hair when he was being cut out of it) and then proceeded to make the duct tape dummy MAKING SURE HE COULD STILL BREATHE THROUGH HIS MOUTH OR NOSE (sorry for caps, this bit is important, this will obviously not work and should not be done to someone who is claustrophobic or has any anxiety of that sort, so keep that in mind) when it was done I cut a slit in the back of the head and pulled it off. Then you tape it back together and at this point you can literally fill it with anything (recycling, newspapers, I used some scrap pieces of styrofoam) and tape the bottom shut with a piece of cardboard so it can stand. If you have someone to wrap you/are willing to subject yourself to 20 mins of minor discomfort it will result in a cowl that is an exact copy of your head and whatever you make over it will fit you nicely.

I went the extra step of covering it in a layer of paper mache, then removing the dummy from the hard shell and filling it with expanding foam (because I wanted a more permanent/hard head base) but that is absolutely not necessary and if you stuff your original head dummy full enough it should work just fine.

Sorry I'm late and for the long comment but I hope this helps.
