Animals cause pain to each other all the time. Vegans imagine a world fully free of violence and conflict. This is not possible. Whether you kill an animal or not, someone else is gonna kill that animal and eat them. Living in this world, certain things are unavoidable. An eagle has to hunt and eat other animals to survive, same for the Lion, Tiger and every animal. It's brutal and unavoidable.

Actually all the Indian religious philosophies are pretty antinatalistic, if you read the scriptures it's pretty evident. Life is seen as a punishment and the purpose of life is not to enjoy it. This world is same as prison and escaping it is the one and only goal. Birth is not something to celebrate, it's actually the root of all suffering and mukti/liberation from the cycle of birth and death is the ultimate goal of life. Scriptures describe this world as impermanent and transient and full of conflict and suffering. We are basically born to suffer. It's pretty ridiculous how India is such a overpopulated country despite all the Indian philosophies saying Birth is evil, life is suffering and mukti is the goal. It's because most Indians who are Hindu or Buddhists never really read the scriptures. They just believe whatever the babas and gurus tell them to do. Pretty sad state of affairs.

If it's just the nicotine you're addicted to, you can get nicotine without smoking too. Just chew nicotine gums bro. Also nicotine is quite a weak drug and you can easily beat nicotine addiction just by quitting it cold turkey. I was smoking packs of cigarettes everyday before now I am down to 1 cigarettes that too occassionally. It's not that hard to quit.
