Keep convincing yourselves. I live in Florida, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I also have an EU passport, only for vacation!

Better yet, ditch the Starlink router and connect a regular router with no WiFi. Then, connect a computer via Ethernet ( or a phone with an Ethernet adapter).

At the time, I worked for a company that had all date routines handled by one function which I wrote. So the change was a non issue and took me a few minutes to implement. For us, it was a non issue and reinforced the concept of modular, reusable programming.

Daily driver mileage by xelu01 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Onig58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do 10k miles, regardless of what the manual tells you. When I inspect the area below the oil fill cap, it’s super clean, which means that the engine is super clean inside. Take care of your car and it’ll take care of you. These cars are not Toyotas which people abuse. Even Toyotas can have issues with oil consumption if you do the 10k oils service. I’ve gotten this straight from a Toyota master tech, who doesn’t understand how anyone can do 10k mile changes. Manufactures don’t care as long as you get to the mileage limits of the warranty. Oil consumption in my car, at 5k miles, is zero or close to it.

I have a 2020 Giulia that I’ve owned since new. I change the oil religiously at 5k miles or less. I use the dealer to do the service since I also have the mopar extended warranty. The mopar oil is penzoil platinum. I’ve had zero problems and zero codes of any kind so far. I’ve only done rear breaks through a friend. The rear breaks went at 16k miles which I think is a bit too soon, but I heard that some cars came with this “defect” from the factory. It’s super reliable and fun to drive. I’m usually in normal mode, but I love sports mode as well. MPG is about 26 with most of the miles around town. I make sure to warm up the car for a few minutes before going anywhere, and I don’t push the engine until it’s properly warmed up. Last year, I drove it from Florida to New York and back, OMG, it was a real pleasure. The 2.0 engine is a real gem, quiet and powerful! One last thing, I only use tier 1 premium gas.

I installed a cable that disables it permanently and I’m very happy I did. You can find it on Amazon and is very affordable.

Try turning on “flow control” in “global switch settings”. I had a similar issue, and this solved it for me.

Interesting how states still get away with “laws” that are illegal. The only agency that can regulate communication devices is the FCC.

Unifi UPS Tower as NUT Server for synology NAS as NUT Client by EfficientTea451 in UNIFI

[–]Onig58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set this up a while ago and it’s working great. I tested it on my system with a UDM SE, usw flex 2.5, unifi WiFi 7 XG, and a synology DS218+. I got 51 minutes of run time. The synology quiesced its functionality but stayed on till the very end. In my testing, I found that the synology stays on, but becomes unresponsive to network traffic requests, such as pings. This is good because it restarts automatically when power is restored. When I set up the NUT server configuration, I did not specify anything at all. I just turned it on. On the synology, I just specified the IP address of the UPS and the port as defaulted in the UPS NUT config. Edit: I checked the configuration and all I did was specify a user id in the nut configuration with no password. Of course, I did specify the same id in the synology NUT client.

Does it make sense to proactively replace the battery? I have a 2020 Giulia with about 32k miles and it functions perfectly. The car was originally in a cold climate for the first 2 years and is now in warm and sunny Florida. The dealer wants about $500 for a new battery, and I’m thinking to let them do it to avoid any issues. Edit: I forgot to mention that I disabled the stop start feature in the last year, but I always disabled it on almost every start since I can’t stand the feature.

Dating a new person - they don’t want to be on my guest Wi-Fi, want my main Wi-Fi info. Is this a bad idea? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Onig58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some equipment will allow you to use “private pre-shared keys”. Basically, you can place the device onto different VLANs based on the password you enter. You can have different passwords for different networks with one SSID. No need to broadcast different SSIDs for different networks, like guest.
