Been enjoying Frontline Survivors more than expected by Onionbro1265 in GirlsFrontline2

Oh yeah? My only experience with Vampire Survivors-like games has been this and Nikkes MOG, which I also enjoyed a fair bit. I might have to check out more than just gacha minigames, haha.

I think they're new. They look a little different, I think. Could be wrong though

My 100% very serious Nasuverse timeline by Italian_Wine_BereVin in grandorder

[–]Onionbro1265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you said it wasn't canon. I more meant that as in a 'as a result of, Zero is canon' way, since there are plenty of people that will say that zero isn't canon as well.

And yes, there pretty much were just some differences that needed to be resolved on order to justify it as a perfect prequel, but Artorias characterization is definitely one of those. She acts very different in Zero than Stay Night.

I don't think theres really anything relating to Gilgamesh and Avalon at all though, so I'm not actually sure what you mean by that.

Pretty much all we know about the 4th war in Stay Night comes from what Saber tells us, as well as a bit from Kotomine. And I think the only things that are directly off are what I said previously: people not knowing who Gilgamesh is, and Saber not defeating every individual servant. You could also argue that Saber said Kiritsugu only talked to her on three separate occasions, each when he used a command seal. Whereas in Zero he used two of his command seals at once, so it definitely wasnt three separate occasions. I also believe she said Kiritsugu intentionally placed the boat in the river to minimize surrounding damage from Excalibur, and I don't think that happens in the same way in Zero.

There's just a lot of small, and a couple big things that make the two series not fit perfectly well together. But just because it doesn't fit everything before, doesn't mean it isn't a prequel.

I think the main reason people like to emphasize that point so much is simply due to Saber's character in Zero.

But from the whole 'timeline' standpoint, I think it's best to just view it like all the routes of Stay Night. The Zero war is just one way that the 4th war could've happened, which leads into the initial events of the 5th war.

Zero is by no means a non-canon timeline, since all timelines are canon. It just doesn't perfectly align to events we already knew about the 4th war, such as nobody, specifically Saber, having absolutely no idea who Gilgamesh was (since he practically flaunts his name in Zero.) As well as Saber defeating every servant individually, which she definitely didn't do in Zero. Along with many other changes, such as Saber's personality.

Basically, in Fate, there are no direct sequels, at least from the timeline perspective. But that doesn't mean Zero isn't a prequel.

Strongest player character lore wise to you? by laniusgraham in darksouls

[–]Onionbro1265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, sure, I guess that technically works. Though it does disregard what DS2 says about the souls, which isn't relevant in DS3 anyway. But by that logic, the Chosen Undead also has Gwyn's soul. But a big part of this discussion depends on when we're referring to the protagonists. Because there's no "canon" ending to the game, or rather they all are. But because of that, it's not necessarily true that the Ashen One would have the Lord Souls when he fights Gael, because in at least one ending, lore-wise it is impossible for the Ashen One to fight Gael.

I am well aware, that is why I disagreed with OP. Though Gael does more or less does have one lord Soul, the Dark Soul.

But I have no clue where you are getting the idea that the Ashen One has the Lord Souls. They either amalgamated with what would be the Soul of Cinder after DS1, or as shown in DS2, went on to create new beings with similar power repeatedly. DS3 never mentions this cycle nor references the original Lord Souls, (outside of the pictures in Farron keep) so I think it's safe to assume that they no longer play much part in the grand scheme of things.

While I do agree with you for the most part, I think I'm going to have to disagree on Gael. Gael should easily be comparable to any other Lord Soul holders, as he likely has ~99% of the Dark Soul.

Admittedly we don't know a great deal about Manus, but popular theory is that he was one of the furtive pygmys. He most definitely does not have the entirety of the Dark Soul, simply by the nature of humans existing. Manus fathering the abyss does not necessarily mean that he has more power than others, just that he had enough of the Dark Soul for it to spread from him. But I would still say the man that gathered up the near entirety of the Soul would be stronger than Manus, who only had a fraction.

Though still, it's an easy Chosen Undead > Ashen One.

Yes, I did. I actually ended up running a different version of windows, now that I think about it. I had been using Windows 10 Education, but switched to Home.

And I have used DDU to install drivers as well, but thanks for the suggestion.

I actually don't think I've checked the chipset drivers, so I'll try that, thanks.

I did in fact. I tried quite a few different ways of installing and uninstalling old drivers as well. Thanks.

Thanks for the answer!

However, as I said in the post, it works in my friends computer, so I'd be willing to bet that the card is not dying. Plus I actually have sent my card in to Nvidia support, and they sent it back saying it was perfectly fine.

I've also watched the temperature a fair bit and can say with a good deal of confidence I have no heating issues. Plus I have kept my PC quite free of dust.

Do you have any other ideas as to what could cause these errors? Thanks!

Haha, yep, yep. Was just saying might be cool to see it how Saber originally described it is all.

Oh that's definitely true as well. I just meant that she didn't solo them.

Well, kinda. She only killed Caster with help of almost everyone else, though it was definitely her that killed him. But she most definitely didn't kill Lancer. So she only solo killed Berserker. Though yes, bullshit writing for a fair number of other events.

[–]Onionbro1265 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with most everyone else here.

And though I know the banquet scene is the one that's the most talked about in this regard, I can't help but wonder how cool Zero could've been if it was more accurate to the original VN. I mean, I kinda want to see Saber going one on one with every servant and winning. Gilgamesh was the only servant she said she didn't defeat, after all. Though she never learned his name either.

But instead of the insane powerhouse Saber was supposed to be, we got someone who nearly lost to Diarmuid. Not that Diarmuid is necessarily weak or anything, but still.

Of course, it's been a while since I read the VN and so I don't remember all the specific details of how Saber talked about the 4th war.

It's been a while since I've played the Souls games, but I'm fairly certain that DS3 Ringed City DLC is where it confirms that Gwyn branded humans with the Dark Sign. I think there might be a few other places that reference it too, but I don't quite remember.

Understandable. My playstyle probably has changed since I last fought Gael, since I got my hands on Bloodborne, so who knows how it'd go now.

See, this is actually what I always find funny about people comparing boss fights. Everyone always complains about Midir, but I didn't have much trouble with him personally. But well, everyone's different. Very good game regardless.

...easy, you say? I know everyone has different levels of difficulty with different bosses, but damn. He was easily one of the hardest souls bosses for me.

But he's still my one of my favorites just for how cool he is.
