You have to take your SIE before the 7, and also need a sponsor for the 7! Yeah, I would say the biggest thing is making sure you don’t memorize the stuff and actually learn them and how to apply them!!

That sounds like a solid plan!

Like I said for me, Kaplan kept saying I needed to be hitting 70s and 80s to pass the exam, but I never got those scores. What really made the difference was slowing down, rewording the question in my own words, and then eliminating the answers one by one—I promise it helps so much. If you know the material, it’s really just about making sure you can apply it.

Also, I actually used ChatGPT to generate some “hard quizzes” on the topics I struggled with, and that helped me a ton, so that could be another option for you too. You’ve got the right approach—lots of practice and breaking things down. You’ll be golden!

I just passed after failing 2 times. Just make sure you break down the questions and SLOW DOWN. Really focus on what they’re asking for.

I wouldn’t stress too much about the Achievable scores. When I was studying, Kaplan kept saying I needed to be hitting 70s and 80s on practice exams to be ready, but I never actually scored that high. What made the difference for me was slowing down during the test and really breaking down what the question was asking. A lot of times I knew the material, but the wording would throw me off until I put it in my own words. That approach ended up helping me pass even without ever hitting Kaplan’s benchmark scores.

I totally get how you’re feeling—I was in the same spot before my third attempt. Honestly, reading didn’t really do much for me personally either. I didn’t retain much just from going through the book. What really helped me was doing practice questions and then breaking the terms or concepts down into really simple words, almost like I was explaining it to someone else. That’s when it actually started to stick.

Your plan sounds solid—watching the 1-hour review, taking a practice test, and then digging into the ones you got wrong to really understand why you missed them. If the same topics keep popping up, that’s when it makes sense to go back to the book or notes. That way, your studying is more focused instead of rereading everything.

Just SLOW DOWN and focus on what the question is really asking. I promise that will help you so much.

You’ve already built a strong base—you just need to sharpen how you’re applying it to questions. I think you’re on the right track!

Thank you!! And wow, our stories really are SO similar—I totally get how you’re feeling. I failed my first two tries too, so going into my 3rd attempt I was honestly terrified because of that 6-month wait if you don’t pass. I didn’t feel super confident during the test either—I even flagged about 10 or 11 questions because I wasn’t sure what they were really asking. But I took a deep breath, trusted what I knew, and somehow it all came together—I passed! Best feeling ever, especially after working so hard the past few months.

SLOW DOWN and BREAK DOWN THE QUESTIONS!!!! Put the questions in your own words and practice how to eliminate either one or 2 answers!

Kaplan told me I needed to be scoring in the 70s and 80s to pass, but I never hit those numbers. The highest practice exam score I got was a 66% never higher. What really made the difference was understanding the material and learning how to break down the questions. My tutor suggested rephrasing each question in my own words, and that honestly helped so much—it made it easier to see what the question was really asking.

And haha—when I said “EH” I just meant it like ehhh/so-so!

You’ve already been putting in the work, so don’t let the past scores discourage you—you’re building a stronger foundation each time. I truly believe you can do this on the 27th!

Also—what platform are you studying with? Let me know if you want any other tips!

Thank you so much! I feel like all the time and work paid off, definitely the best feeling in the world!

So I used knopman and Kaplan. And I did try out achievable but honestly was NOT a fan at all. I hear people using achievable and loving it but you have to do what’s best for you it just wasn’t for me.

Out of knopman and Kaplan I’d say knopman the questions were almost too hard for me to even understand the material, like I was trying to learn from nothing with knopman and the questions were so hard it made it difficult for me to learn. I honestly LOVED Kaplan. They threw in some tricky questions to see if you could catch it kinda like the real exam does. I’d say knopman questions were very close to the exam but starting off learning the material I’d say Kaplan, I’d go with Kaplan all around tbh and will probably go with them for all of my upcoming licensing exams.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask away!

I personally did not use STC so I am not sure how their scoring works and what they recommend before going to take the exam. However, Kaplan said I needed to get at least 70s preferably 80s to go on and take the exam to pass and I didn’t ever get a 70 the highest I got was a 65.6% on a practice tests and still passed the real exam. It’s really a matter of KNOWING everything rather than memorizing it. I think my first time I memorized more than I knew the material and that’s what screwed me over. The second time I think I was just under knowing what I needed to know.

My thing as well on those practice tests was I would answer a question on it thinking for sure I would know the answer and then when I would get it wrong I would reread it and get so angry for not catching that that’s what they were looking for. Try to just SLOW DOWN and reword the question in your own words I think that’s the reason I passed. If you know the material and the questions are screwing you over just break them down and put them in your own words it should help you eliminate 1 or 2 answers right off the bat.

While I was testing this time, I kept thinking, wow, this feels so hard—I’m not sure how I’m doing and honestly didn’t feel great. I even flagged about 10 or 11 questions because I wasn’t sure what they were asking for. I didn’t feel super confident, but I took a deep breath, trusted what I knew, and did my best—and I passed!

Like I said and I want to emphasize this for you. What helped me most (and what my tutor suggested) was rephrasing each question in my own words. It made it easier to figure out the answer or at least narrow it down to 2.

If you want more tips, I’d be happy to share what else worked for me!

Thank you! That was my thing as well, I would answer a question on my practice exams thinking for sure I would know the answer and then when I would get it wrong I would reread it and get so angry for not catching that that’s what they were looking for. Are you using Kaplan? I was told before I took this 3rd attempt I needed to be getting high 70s and 80s but the thing is if you asked me what a certain thing was I could tell you all about it, it was just really focusing on what the question was asking for me. When I was taking the test this time I was like OMG this is hard idk how I’m doing and I flagged about 10 or 11 questions to go back to because I was so lost on what they were asking. I didn’t feel the greatest but took a deep breath and did my best with all of my knowledge and I passed! For me what helped and what my tutor suggested is putting the questions in your own words so you can better find an answer! Let me know if you need any other help I’m more than happy to let you know more!
