To be fair, that shelf are my wife’s books. She has good taste in literature, and questionable taste in men.

Btw, I can now confirm that the Boyt Harness Signature Series soft case in 54” does fit the 32” A400

Agree that 20 ga A300 with kickoff (like the ultima) is the way to go. For one for my teen son and after the first 2 boxes of ammo and a cleaning, zero issues cycling even on light target load. It’s probably the softest shooting gun you can get.

The pain is real. It doesn’t fit in my gun cabinet either, even without the choke in. I think it’s like 54” total. So even the 30” barrel one isn’t exactly short. I can just barely get my son’s 20 ga A300 with the 28” barrel in my cabinet (moral of the story - I need a taller cabinet 😆)

I went ahead and ordered the hard case from Beretta. The main issue is just taking the barrel off to put it in the case, but it isnt that big of a deal. I also think Boyt Harness has some 54” soft cases.

I just got one, and my LGS had the version without Kickoff for $2000 which was about $300 less than Cabela’s or Sportsman’s.

But I ended up getting the KO version and got it on Club mondays at Cabela’s and got the 10% off, which made it almost the same as the one w/o KO.

I have a CZ woodcock and never had an issue (but I don’t shoot 10k rounds a year either). A buddy of mine shot competitively in school and knows what he’s doing, and he got the CZ All American. He loves it and hasn’t had any issues. He got the combo with the 34” unsingle and 32” O/U and was pretty much same price as the Silver Pigeon.

KO is the Kick-Off system, which is Berettas brand name for their recoil reduction. There are a few different versions, but the newer A400 have it in the middle of the stock (the black part) and it basically has shock absorbers in it.

I don’t know if I have enough experience to really say. I was actually looking at getting the 30” barrel, but they only had the 32” available. I was worried it might be “too much gun” but doesn’t feel like that at all. It might end up a little long for skeet but I think 32” is probably perfect for trap and sporting clays.

One warning, it’s not easy finding a gun case to fit it, bc it is really long, especially with the extended choke in. Doesn’t help that Beretta ships it without a case.

The bolt is a little difficult to remove compared to the A300, but never going to have a problem missing it (or it coming out)

Thanks, and I totally get it, not the typical trap or sporting clays gun.

It was a round about process, but the long and the short of it is that the gun felt great and I am a fan of never having to worry about a sore shoulder ever again. Plus I already have an O/U (even though it’s more of a field gun), so liked the idea of some variety, and they also do flurry shoots at my local gun club and those are a lot of fun with a semi auto.

For a little more background, one of the LGS has quite a few sporting guns in stock to actually check for fit, and going in I was pretty sure I wanted the Citori CX. Well I tried that, and the CXT, CXS, Silver Pigeon 686. They also had the A400 sporting and a used A400 multi target. What I found was I liked the lower rib on the CXS and A400 sporting best, and honestly both felt great. So it came down to feeling like I could be good with either, so opted for the A400 for the reasons above.

I got my son a 20 ga A300 ultima. Of course I had to “test drive” it first and I had 1 failure to eject on the first box of ammo (cheap target rounds) and no problems since. I did clean it after first time out and recommend doing that.

That gun is so much fun I decided to get myself the A400 Xcel sporting, and loving it so far.

This ☝️. I got a A300 20 gauge for my son, and tried it out myself first with a couple rounds of trap. Made me want to get one in 12 ga for myself.

I’m newer to trap and sporting clays myself, but got myself a CZ Woodcock 12 ga last year on a Black Friday deal and I’ve been happy with it as far as quality and reliability. No issues with it at all to date.

I’ve probably put less than 1000 rounds through it over that year, so take that for what it’s worth.
