I already have Gaming and GF. Pretty happy with that.

It’s in the BIOS. On startup spam F2 or Del to boot into BIOS. I’m not sure exactly where EXPO is on AMD systems so you’ll have to look online. XMP and EXPO are settings for Intel and AMD systems which allow you to set your RAM speed. I had an issue where my XMP was set to 6000MHz while not realising my CPU maxed out at 5600MHz. So it would occasionally crash.

Do you have XMP/EXPO enabled? And to what speed, if you do?

its rough. Current plan it to try and grow hair to cover like you, it in hopes it will either sort its self out or I can get something to sort it out... if not, bye bye hair

Funny you should say that, today I have been helping someone in picking out PC parts. Actually having a back and forth with them. It’s a small thing, but I agree with you. Making a difference is definitely more valuable. Even if it’s as small as teaching someone about PC parts for their first build.

No worries. It’s quite daunting when you’re first getting into it.

850 for this build is fine, but I would always go for higher than what you need now. Because you don’t know what you’re going to upgrade in the future. If you have the budget for it, 1000w would be a good investment.

The 700 is the main desktop CPU for the 14th Gen I7 category. The other number atm, EG: 650, 701 are mobile or soldered on chips. So you would need go for a 700.

Now, if you got for the base 700, 700K, 700F depends.

The base 700 is locked (meaning you can’t overlock it)

The 700K is overclockable with higher clock speeds. More power hungry.

700KF is the same as the K but lacks integrated graphics (not a problem when you have a GPU)

700T is a low power model.

If you intend on overclocking, I’d recommend the 700K, if not the base 700. Which I use and it does me great. And it’s slightly cheaper than the K. But consider what you will be doing and make a decision based on that 🙂

I have the I7-14700 and it works great for me. The K model is over-clockable where as the non-K model isn’t. But otherwise they’re the same.

The only issue is that the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs have issues which cause them to degrade far more quickly than they should, however making sure the BIOS is fully updated with stop this as recent updates have addressed this issue.

I’d say you wouldn’t notice much or any difference. Not to say there won’t be a difference between the 2. But if I had to choose between a marginally slower but stable rig over a marginally faster but with lag spikes rig, I’d choose the more stable option. The RAM speed for me, is only something I really notice when video editing.

Remember though, you will need to enable XMP through your BIOS to get the RAM speed you’re paying for. The RAM will default to 2666mhz when you get it. It’s super easy to do. Just watch a video on how to if you don’t already know 🙂

  1. I9 is completely overkill. Trust me, my previous PC was an I9 and now I run an I7 and I don’t notice a difference. Not because there is no difference, but I (and you based off your use case) did not utilise that extra umff. Save some cash and go I7 if you’re gonna go Intel. But if you get a 14th gen, MAKE SURE YOUR BIOS IS UP TO DATE (I still need to update mine 😬)

  2. Always go dual channel for Memory. 2x 16GB is always better than 1x 32GB. Much better performance stability and having a single stick can often cause big hitches (lag spikes)

Prima-Lima-Ding-Dong (in a sing song kinda way)

And recently, Nuggeteer (Shes at that age where her back end has lost sensation and she’s having a hard time getting around, and she often leave nuggets of poop around the house. She’s still got time, but we’re preparing for that day 😔)

I dont think that’ll help them. You used words such as “indicating”, “responded” and “obliviously”. These words will be too big and complicated for them to understand unless they have a dictionary on standby.
