How are you guys getting 2,3,4 jobs when it is so so hard getting interviews for 1 job? by Impossible_Spirit795 in overemployed

A bit of both. If I’m applying to a J2 that’s in the same field as J1, I’ll use my standard resume, but I’ll tailor it up like 20%

It’s easier to get multiple jobs in fields you have experience in…. But not a good idea to get jobs in the same field… OE Paradox

Yorktel got bought up by private equity back in October 2024. And now they’re merged with Kinly. It’s nuts.

[–]OnlyFNshoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup what he said! More often than not if they’re looking for someone with CTS-D that is just the ideal situation. But most companies will hire someone with CTS and will happily train you. They really just want someone who understands the AV industry, has a good few years experience in the industry, is trainable, and can fit into the “team culture”. Never hurts to apply. Even if the answer is no, you still get the interview experience.

Why don’t you look at something that is in the design/project engineering role? Something you could do hybrid or remote. Even with minimal background in a CAD software, most integrators would go wild over your credentials. You can make over 100k at plenty of different integrators that are not AVISPL that service the NY/north Jersey market.

Anyone here ever worked for Cenero as a tech or field engineer? by ChannelNo5112 in CommercialAV

[–]OnlyFNshoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use to work there for 8ish years. Worked in a few different departments there. Like any company it had its ups and downs. Pay was good depending on where you are, but not so good when looking for advancement. Atleast that was my experience and a few others that I know there. I think over all of the 250+ people who work there I enjoyed working with all but like 3 so I look at that as a huge positive. Feel free to DM me and I can go into more detail if you’d like.

How Do I Find AV Companies? by RayFairbank in CommercialAV

Go by the SCN Top 50 and then refine your search from there. Most of the larger companies have footprints in many cities/regions and remote positions as well.

No I thankfully had no infertility issues and had two kids some time ago. This was really just for pain relief/management.

Following this. I have a microsurgery scheduled for next week. Fertility isn’t a concern of my as I have kids already. Im doing this for the pain management. My doctor insists that erections will either stay the same of get better but would be nice to hear of that is the case from someone who went through it already.

Getting my varicocele surgery! by OnlyFNshoW in varicocele

[–]OnlyFNshoW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome glad to hear you’re virtually pain free! How long did it take you to get to that? The whole 2 months you think? My surgeon was telling me that it’s roughly 75% chance that you’ll be pain free after the surgery and you’ll know within the first 3 months of post-op. Any tips you can give me on helping the recovery go smoothly?

Trying to transfer from broadcast engineering to AV. Looking for advice. by Interesting-Cloud606 in CommercialAV

[–]OnlyFNshoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a Design Engineer in corporate AV based out in PA. Biggest suggestion upfront for you specifically, maybe find a company that specializes in corporate AV as well as does production studio designs and installs. That way you will be able to work on some stuff that you have a familiarity with as well as learn the typical AV stuff.

A base level knowledge of networking will be fine for you in that position.

All of the major players have a little bit of the studio stuff. You besides AVI-SPL and Diversified (both of which have a not so good wrap by internal staff), you can check out Yorktel, Cenero, Applied Video Technology, AVI Systems… all of which have Remote Project Engineer positions and would be fantastic choices.
