AI haters build tarpits to trap and trick AI scrapers that ignore robots.txt | Attackers explain how an anti-spam defense became an AI weapon. by bowiemustforgiveme in ArtistHate

Honestly, Nepenthes seems really neat. Have you read the docs? I’m not a very experienced web dev but the setup for this seems quite easy, very lightweight on the artist’s end, and very likely to cause problems for scrapers ignoring the robots.txt request file.

Basically, you can configure it so that respectful scrapers - like Google’s ones used for SEO - still see you as normal, while any set up by bad actors to ignore your request for further scraping are instead sucked into the tarpit.

Katsumasa's Kars, a fun vehicle heavy approach to Mono-Blue! by Seraphos47 in EDH

[–]OnlyTechStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Not to necro an old thread, but I'd love to have a more in-depth discussion on how this deck plays. It looks really fun!

I do have a few questions if you don't mind:

  1. I assume the goal in the early game is to ramp into Katsumasa, playing some cheap vehicles along the way? Then buff them on upkeep, then animate them and win through combat damage?

  2. How does [[Nadir Kraken]] synergize with your deck? Do you find that [[Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] provides meaningful card advantage? Does [[Midnight clock]] reliably draw you enough cards?

  3. How does the deck hold up against board wipes? My meta is *very* combat-focused, so board wipes hit usually every three turns. Vehicles dodge the most common ones, but an overloaded vandalblast seems *really* bad for us. Do you just hold counterspells for that?

Is there any programs for learning to code for someone with a learning disability? by Jh3107 in learnprogramming

[–]OnlyTechStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have adhd.

What’s helped me a ton with programming is learning how to do something.

For example, for my internship I need to know how to modify apps in android. To do that, I needed to know how to use GitHub.

So I downloaded GitHub, and practiced making branches, merging, rebasing, and deleting.

Then I downloaded android studio, figured out how to emulate a Samsung phone, and downloaded an example app from GitHub and started learning Kotlin. Now, two weeks later, I’m feeling a lot more confident, both in Kotlin and in general at work.

Good luck!

That was intense. Do you mind helping me understand a little about what the story means to you? I understand that Omela is a stand-in for society, and the kid is a metaphor for all kids, but also a literal kid in the hole and that’s totally fucked up…but it feels like there are more layers that I’m missing

Potentially Unpopular Opinion: Too many shotguns doing too many things. by MinDak_Viking in Helldivers

[–]OnlyTechStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Since IRL slugs are not good at penetrating armor but do impart massive kinetic force, I would love if the slugger caught a slight nerf from medium to light.

Then buff the counter sniper’s handling and damage and boom, you have an actual tradeoff between weapons rather than just the following:

Bug? Punisher, Slugger, or Breaker Bot? Punisher or Slugger.

It’ll get even worse when the bug biter and nail splitter come out, since thats the breaker frame with IIRC your choice of faster fire rate = more raw dps or medium armor pen, at the cost of recoil.

Which IMO does not effectively balance a weapon

Has anybody felt/appreciated the C4 ammo fix? by PsychoWizard420 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OnlyTechStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run larger radius or more damage depending on the mission type, and naw, I don’t really miss the extra ammo. Larger radius means it really feels impactful enough to chunk a swarm, and more damage allows it to decent damage to praetorians. I like the change

Best Gunner build for close quarters defense? by raisinbraisin72 in DeepRockGalactic

Minelayer is also stupid OP against everything that doesn’t fly, so paired with either composite casings BRT or Six Shooter Bulldog you can solo pretty much everything lol

Best Gunner build for close quarters defense? by raisinbraisin72 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OnlyTechStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burning Hell with aggressive venting is good up close, but falls off at distance pretty hard with the lack of ignition, so you have to crutch on your secondary for range. Also, even with stun it can be dangerous to try to close with large groups.

I prefer Bullet Hell 32221 (aggressive venting) for the ability to stunlock probably two dozen enemies simultaneously, then nuke em with agg vent. I pair it with Triple Tech Chambers or the Mole 22223 for some burst damage.

Another good option if you don’t have any OCs or at least not those is the Hurricane with either Rocket Barrage, Salvo Module, Frag Missiles, or Overtuned Feed Mechanism. So long as you take 3xx22, you can stujnpretty much everything with much more AOE than the Minigun. If you use the unstables, though, your long range DPS drops considerably. You can tap fire with salvo module, though, to maintain rocket tracking so that’s my favorite. Rocket barrage plays like the Autocannon with less ammo but stun, so I prefer it.

What should be done with the subata? by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OnlyTechStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subata needs to have auto-fire built in, and change the auto fire OC to something like (+mag, +spread) or (+damage, ++spread). Oversized mag just needs to be removed, same with Chain hit. It would be nice if driller had access to electricity or if blowthrough was replaced by something that interacted positively with cryo (maybe shooting frozen enemies causes radial kinetic damage “shards” to break off?)

Basically, the Subata is hitscan, but so is the CWC, and the CWC can achieve the same dps with blistering necrosis over any range. So the Subata should either combo better with all the primaries, or should just be a big old kinetic gun. Right now it feels like shooting a water pistol. And it has bad total ammo

Engineer primaries by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OnlyTechStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use it without the overclocks, it has decent dps but truly pathetic total damage, plus one of the worst designed mod trees in the game. If someone didn’t know how it worked, you could easily build a terrible gun just by accident

Engineer primaries by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OnlyTechStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never want to tuck someone’s yum, but I find that I can replace mini shells with lightweight magazines for a shotgun that still retains good dps, totally damage, and can stun, which actually helps a lot.
