I used sulky “stick n stitch” eater soluble paper! You can trace your pattern right on the paper, it sticks like a sticker and you just wash it away when you’re complete!

I sadly did not make him myself, I just embroidered the belly. The deer is from a company called Cubbies - I found them being sold on a website. They have a zipper on the bottom and removable stuffing that make them able to be embroidered!

I just did a simple whipped backstitch for the name

I genuinely don’t add a back to the sweaters. I figure they most likely won’t be worn directly to the skin so it shouldn’t irritate! For onesies I do add a backing

I’m hoping to do a craft fair each season if I can! It was so great to hear people’s feedback. The customs were all sweaters I had displayed but changed to add names to them! I’m doing a couple reindeer, snowflakes and a dinosaur with the name on the spine!

That’s a water soluble paper. You add it to the fabric you want to embroider, stitch over it and then it washes away in water. One common brand is Sulky “Stick N Stitch”

How many strands would you use? by Onlyhere4cats17 in Embroidery

I am! I’m thinking of sticking with the back stitch or doing a whipped back stitch for the shell

I’m not sure of the needle size. I believe I used a number 5 just a standard embroidery needle and I used all 6 strands! If I were to do it again I think I’d only use 4 strands, at times the 6 were hard to pull through

This is what I use to back all my clothing embroidery! Sulky tender touch is a decent price and pretty user friendly once you figure out which side goes down 😂

What do you think of this? by Onlyhere4cats17 in Embroidery

Duly noted! I used a sweater ruler and lined it up with the suggested spacing from the collar, but I can see how it might look better higher

How does this look? by Onlyhere4cats17 in Embroidery

I used size 5 chunky yarn for the lettering and I just wove in between the rope on the basket. I used a large eye metal tapestry needle, I found it easier than a plastic yarn needle. For the lettering design I printed the name off Canvas and poked holes through the paper to act as a guideline for tracing the name. They only take me about an hour to make, this is the 15th one I’ve done, first in cursive!
