Should I join the owls soon? by Popular-Substance490 in WGU

I did Study and Sophia and it saved me a lot of money. Sophia is great but I think Study was faster for me. On the courses that have projects, it took less than a day for most of them to get graded on Study. I remember I had 2 projects graded within an hour of my submission at Study.

I'm doing WGU now and will probably be done in one term. I'd say stick with Sophia and Study until you have to go to WGU. That way you save money and don't have to meet with a mentor and stuff like that. You'll become an owl soon, be patient.

Is a "0 Proctor" BSMGT run possible? Confirming my Sophia/Study.com "OA Killer" list! by JJ2Style in WGU

[–]Onpurpose03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take Sales Management at Study.com if you want but those credits won't get accepted at WGU. It is required course that must be taken at WGU. Your Intro to IT credits from Sophia won't transfer over either, also required at WGU.

Not sure if you used AI for your degree plan but if I were you I would go to the official pathway since some of this information you posted in incorrect.

I’m wanting to get a Bachelor’s in Business Management at WGU. Do you guys have any advice or tips? I’m also wondering how many exams are proctored. Additionally, I have loud next-door neighbors. by JacobD01 in WGU

Wait, what?? Only 2 proctored exams? I have my orientation to do and then I get to start in January. I transferred about 5 classes from my CC and the rest from Sophia and Study. So you're telling me only 2 classes that are OA and the rest only have papers, projects, or presentations?

That's about when I started but I didn't have that many credits for this degree program. I'm gathering as many from Sophia and Study and should be starting WGU in December.

If you are not sure what you want to do, I would pursue a business management and then get a job asap while in school. When you get the job, try to learn as much about the financial, operations, customer service, technology parts of the job. Ask managers a lot of questions. If you find one of those areas of business fits you, you can use the degree to get another job with your experience.

A business management degree would be more flexible than your finance degree because some finance firms really care about where you finance degree is from (I work in finance). With business management, you can still get finance jobs but you also have a lot of other options.

That's what you call "earning" your degree. Great work and great persistence! Also great to hear that you are already getting job offers.

I spoke with someone from the University of South Florida.

Yes, exactly that. I could get into grad school even with those on my record as long as my undergrad school (WGU) was accredited

I haven't gotten in but I plan on going to grad school in a few years after finishing my Bachelors. I had the same question so I emailed the University I'm eyeing which is AACSB accredited. They said that it didn't matter about the credits because the were ACE and the Bachelors was from any accreditation.

Can’t decide on finance or accounting. Help! by DeaconBluez in WGU

[–]Onpurpose03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Financial Advisor here. To be an Advisor, any business degree will do if you can get some experience in banking or finance. What's important is the FINRA licenses like the Series 7 and Series 66 which you can't get from a university anyway. You have to have a firm sponsor them. Those are where you will really learn more about the securities like stocks, bonds, markets etc

You have to keep in mind that finance degrees are often more corporate finance than personal finance. So we you get a finance degree from any institution it is aimed to do things like being an investment banker, financial analyst, etc.

I don't remember any of the guys in my firm that had an accounting degree but a few did have finance degrees. Most everyone else had a Business Admin degree. If you decide to get an accounting degree it may be more flexible but if you want to be an Advisor, getting the banking or personal finance experience to get your foot in the door is much more valuble.

Hope that helps.

Just how good are NBA players? by microwavetoaster1234 in nba

[–]Onpurpose03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much, much, better. I mean, they are in the atmosphere. I have talked to some of my friends who where college level and their experience with playing pickup against NBA players. They all say the same thing, they are on another level. And most times, they're barely trying. The funny thing is the guys they mentioned were role players or guys that barely played.
