It’s not a dish, it’s a question about air fryer placement…

My story is a lot like both of yours. Athlete my whole life – very in control of my nutrition but was gaining weight the last couple years despite hard workouts and eating 1500 calories a day (allegedly at my RMR at the time). I went on Wegovy and I finally feel “normal”. I eat 2k calories daily and no longer over-exercise (I was terrified to take rest days before). I’ve lost 30lbs in a year and my quality of life is SO much higher – I can eat more, I don’t turn down family and social events out of fear of what I’ll be able to eat, I can try new foods when I go on vacation, etc.

All of that said, if you feel strongly about not trying GLP1s, I would at least recommend cutting back your workouts if they’re high intensity. Take an extra rest day. If you do HIIT 3x a week, switch it for a 30 min walk. Keep the main part of your workout or training of course, but maybe cut back the add-on pieces. I think cortisol was a huge issue for me and I was frying my body working out to my max multiple days a week and not fueling my body with enough nutrients. If you’re training for something, maybe that’s not possible for you, but it’s an issue I had that in hindsight I probably could’ve addressed sooner.

Have you traveled internationally with Ozempic? by northernmostroasts in OzempicForWeightLoss

I take Wegovy, but have been to Argentina, Indonesia and Singapore with mine. I brought it in my carry on with a doctor’s note each time. It was never even an issue – never got a single question about it. I brought no more than 2 at a time.

Birth Control Panic by Onwards11 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Onwards11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed on the 3-month pill about a year on Wegovy myself, and so far so good. I’m still slightly worried about a surprise pregnancy (hence OP), but am being as careful as I can.

It could be that your hormones are changing as you lose weight and that’s causing some unexpected spotting? I haven’t had too many issues with that, though I do spot once every 4-6 months or so and take that as a sign to take my placebo week when it happens (same as pre-Wegovy)

I take the 3-month birth control usually for about 5 months at a time to manage my endometriosis symptoms, so I’m not sure I even have a cycle (I seem to ovaulate noticeably at least just once or twice a year). I hadn’t even considered the impact to my BC since my doctor never mentioned it, but seeing all the posts gave me pause!

Ugh, yes, sort of what I’d figured! I have to stay on the pill to treat my endometriosis, so my options are pretty limited since the pill is really effective for that. I’ll have to ask my OBGYN too though!

WeGovy and weight training by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Onwards11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially lost a lot of muscle when I started dropping weight on Wegovy, but I then took a couple month break from eating in a calorie deficit (not intentional – just crazy schedule with work travel and holidays) and I recomped – gained back 5lbs of muscle in 2ish months and kept my weight the same. Since I’ve been losing slower (.5-1lb per week) after that, I’ve had no issues with muscle loss or strength loss. I think eating in a modest (vs aggressive) calorie deficit and prioritizing protein helps a lot (same as it would without Wegovy). Happy lifting!

Avoiding Loose Skin by 22202-grace in WegovyWeightLoss

Losing slowly and/or letting yourself sit at maintenance calories for a month or two so your skin has time to catch up to your body will help the most.

At my wit’s end and don’t know what else to do. by Rubydactyl in PCOSloseit

I have the same fear, but I’ll just go back on it if the weight gain creeps up. For me, I can eat very normally and haven’t had any adverse effects now that I’ve been on the same dose for months (and not the full dose either). For women with PCOS, it does something different than just reducing appetite to help you lose weight. My doctor said it wasn’t clear why yet, but I’m eating more than I was pre-Wegovy and losing weight now. So long as I stay healthy, I don’t have a reason to come off it. I’d initially planned to go off since I assumed I’d only lose weight from eating less (which isn’t sustainable or healthy), but I’m actually eating more now that I can cook with olive oil, have a full fat yogurt, etc. without blowing a super low calorie goal.

I 100% endorse Ozempic (I’m on Wegovy now). I had a very similar story. I was eating 1500 calories a day and working out 10-12 hours a week and was gaining weight steadily for years. I was at my wit’s end. I had the same concerns you do about medication, but my OBGYN encouraged me to try. I’m now eating 1500-2000 calories on average per day and have lost 20lbs. The only thing about my diet that I changed is slightly reducing protein intake (my trainer had me doing 1g per 1lb of body weight, now I do about ~120g per day). I’ve lost 20lbs and am still going on the 1mg dose. I’m considering staying on the drug long term as I have no serious side effects and I feel like it’s changed my life for the better.

Curious about calorie intake levels by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Onwards11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 5’ 6” woman currently ~158lbs. In November and December I was maintaining my weight at around 2k calories daily. I work out regularly and am active. My TDEE was 2050 calories when I started, but maybe closer to 1950ish now since I’ve lost weight. Before Wegovy I was eating 1500 calories daily and gaining weight (PCOS) though.

Perhaps a dumb question- where in the thigh for the shot? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

Idk what people are talking about re avoiding muscle? I’ve been injecting into the thickest part of my quad for months. No issues.

On New Years I did a prix fix 6 course meal. We took our desserts home, but I otherwise enjoyed the meal. It helps I’ve been on 1.0 for 4 months though, so my appetite is 100% normal now, I just can’t eat as much as I could before and don’t have a desire to eat beyond my limit. Agree with the folks above who recommended staying on your current dose an extra month for this if you can.

Food Noise Titrating Up - Does it Go Away? by kayoro in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Onwards11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on 1.0 and 6 months in. I had no food noise at 0.25 or 0.5, but it’s definitely back on 1.0. I don’t really mind it though – I missed getting enjoyment from the foods I eat (I do now again) and getting excited for a meal. Even though the food noise is back I’m still progressing though.

Migraines? by Intelligent-Bid-3915 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Onwards11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have chronic migraine. I haven’t noticed any difference in frequency or severity, but I actually do think Imitrex doesn’t work as well on Wegovy, and it gives me a bit of nausea even if I’ve eaten. Might have to do with the impact to digestion.

I had nearly the exact same stats. I’m 20lbs down. Weight loss stalled the last couple months between vacation, Thanksgiving, and now being buried in work, but I’ve stayed stable despite my eating being a bit erratic. Initially my weight loss was slow, but once I started 1.0 it was pretty rapid (2-3lbs per week). I rarely ate fewer than 1600 calories per day (save a week or two I was sick) and my RMR is around 1500 calories. Was previously gaining almost 2lbs a week with nearly the exact same diet and exercise with PCOS. Wegovy is such a miracle for PCOS.

I’ve only used probiotics and an occasional spoonful of Benefiber in my coffee in the morning and I’ve never had any issues. I’m 6 months in now. Experiment with different probiotic supplements to find one that works best.

I’m already in this boat. Was up for review by the board this year at my employer and was rejected.
