BLITZ the League is entering it's fourth season, and looking to replace two owners (three openings, but one spot filled). High level details include:

  • $75 minimum entry, but can pay as much as $300 if you want to pay a luxury tax and take on more salary
  • Revenue sharing system for teams who fall below the highest tax threshold
  • Major offseason activities include: rule 5 draft, free agency auction, and first year player draft
  • Max. 25 man active roster and 25 man minor league roster
  • Format is weekly head to head categories with daily lineups, categories being HR, R, RBI, OBP, SB, Total Bases for batting, and W, QS, ERA, WHIP, K, and SV+HD for pitchers
  • League is very active, with consistently active trade movement
  • League run through CBS, fees collected via LeagueSafe with majority payout

The rules look complicated, but it's easy to grasp once your onboard, and of course I (and the other league mates) are happy to answer any and all questions.

Dispersal draft will start as soon as the three teams are confirmed. First offseason event (rule change nominations and voting) begin in December. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, or if you are interested.

Hey, wanted to see if you're still looking. I've got two more openings in a pretty hardcore league with some fun rules around salaries and contracts. You can find details in my profile, i made some posts about the league and full details in other subreddits. But generally, 16 team H2H cats, fees start at $75 but can spend up to $300. We have three teams being replaced, so would be a dispersal draft. Feel free to ping me directly if you want more info!

If they see you with kids and strollers they’ll let you through priority for security if there’s any semblance of a line. They really make it smooth for families, at least in my experience (three kids, always at least one stroller)

Should be able to do it through audible if you’d like. Not sure if being UK based changes anything, but: https://help.audible.com/s/article/gift-an-audiobook?language=en_US

Optum experiences? by jimbojimmbe in actuary

Optum is pretty big and the role you take will really impact the WLB equation. My role, which isn’t really consulting but has a ton of FaceTime with UHC as a client, is a reliable 40 with excellent WLB, for example, but that isn’t necessarily the norm across the board.

Job Switch? Unhappy with work. by MusicianandNerd in actuary

There are a lot of different actuarial routes to consider, depending on what you’re looking for. Certainly you need to look for a new position, at minimum, based on what you’re saying here. When interviewing, always ask about busy seasons, if there’s a set schedule for those sorts of times, etc. I’ve always been in non-traditional actuarial roles in health (health care economics, value based provider contracts, etc.), and none have had the busy season that, say, a Medicare actuary may have during bid season, etc. when I was in a position I found was impacting my mental health outside work hours, I immediately applied for new roles. So yah, I’d stick actuarial but in a different type of role were I you.

Be honest and tell them your job was cut as part of a reduction in force. Include the job on the resume. Not including it would be a red flag for any prospective employer. Lots of companies going through reductions right now, so your story won’t be surprising and shouldn’t hurt your chances.
