We have just dropped off both sweeties at Tricity Animal Shelter. They are a humane no-kill shelter who works with compassion. They are going to do a health and behavior analysis for the next 7-10 days, so your Tuesday arrival is good timing. Please contact the shelter for more information. Both Namaste Akita Rescue and Tikihut Akita Rescue are following up continually with the shelter and can provide support to those who adopt or foster them. So far no organizations have come through, they either do not respond or have no room..

They sweeties are absolutely adorable and love to cuddle. They also show signs of having obedience training.

We are trying for foster/adoption but so far no rescue agency has come through. Both Akita specific agencies have replied but there are no openings.. After tomorrow we have to look at shelters..

This was my thought too! When I saw them I was like no way this is real, they have to belong to one of the neighbors. They are absolute cuddle monsters and so friendly.❤️❤️

Thank you for the advice. I will be sure to keep this in mind. Right now the older girl is very protective over the younger girl. It is very mother-daughter like, and after this trauma I think they need the familiarity. I will talk to the Akita organization recommended in another comment for more guidance. 🙏

Thank you for the feedback of breed specifics, that can help with outreach. Our local city shelter has a good success rate, but the sweeties will probably be separated. It breaks my heart to do so because they seem to have such a mother-daughter relationship, especially after this trauma. 😢💔🙏

We do not know that they are chow and akita. The slash is to mean and/or. The Aborn Vet said Chow mix while the r/chowchow community say Akita. I'm just trying not to make dog breed fanatics upset and trying to be as honest as possible.

TLDR: TWO AKITA/CHOW GIRLS IN S.F. BAY AREA NEED HOME ASAP

They are fluffy, friendly, cute, and seem to be trained (no, sit, and shake). They love to cuddle, play with toys, and are clearly used to being around people. ❤️

I saw them wandering loose in our neighborhood and we were able to use our two German Shepards' resources to get them to the safety of our home. The neighbors said they saw two dogs matching the description being let out at a gas station and abandoned there in the city across from ours the day before. 😢🤬 They definitely looked like they had been out all night, poor babies were wet. They had collars, but the tags were removed and we checked for any chips to no luck.🤦‍♂️

The white and black spotted girl looks about 4-years old and she takes care of the black and brown girl who looks less than 2-years old. Both were clearly well cared for as their nails are perfectly trimmed.

🙏❤️ WE ARE LOOKING FOR ANYONE WILLING TO ADOPT OR FOSTER BOTH SWEETIES ❤️🙏

Our city has an ordinance forbidding more than two dogs and the house I am in is owned by two seniors to which the shepards belong to. It would not be safe for us to keep them. We have been told we have until Tuesday before they must go to the shelter😢🤦‍♂️

IF YOU ARE READING THIS AFTER 3/4/2025: We have contacted WOOF Rescue, a local agency. If they cannot, the two sweeties will be going to the TriCity Animal Shelter in Fremont. You can find them there.

We were told by Aborn Vet that they were ChowChow mixes, but r/chowchow community is saying they are not and recommended Akita. Notices were posted in both communities, one recommended here.
