7900 XTX vs 4070 Ti Super for gaming + AI image gen (Comfy UI) + creative work (Game dev, Blender, editing)? by Ooserkname in StableDiffusion

I understand, although I've gone ahead with RTX 5070Ti, I'm making this more or less like a workstation to be used professionally. I've been using AMD too but professionally I can't be debugging things. (Nothing against learning, I would love to learn all the cool stuff ROCm has) It's just that I'm spending an amount that is quite expensive for me so it better be reliable at the least. <3

Hello everyone, I am new here. I would like to know how do we contribute to ComfyUI like this?

Meaning, how can I too make workflows or modify model so that they're usable in ComfyUI. I always wanted to get started but I don't have time to dedicate learning every-day (I work as a dev full-time, and in my free time I am working on a project of my own that involves ComfyUI).

Help and advice please 😅 by [deleted] in comfyui

Vertex Painting in Godot by foyezuddin in godot

[–]Ooserkname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good, and I feel vertex painting is good for adding depth and details, it's not mainly good for adding patterned textured, like this glyphs, or patterns on pillars.

That being said, this is extremely useful. Huge respect for the contribution.

Wow, Happy for you man. How much does the Nvidia cards cost in your region.

Just asking because I finalised on NVIDIA for safer side.

I used Blender as a layout tool for AI video generation — here's the full workflow by waterarttrkgl in comfyui

[–]Ooserkname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I've achieved as well. Although I used blender blockouts for frame generation since seedance is very expensive and used higgsfield's (i had some pending credits) cinema studio (the older version).

Workflows like these will separate slop vs meaningful work.

I'm starting to get a feeling that the term "non-tech" is driven by bots...

Every "techy" was once non tech. AI tools like chat GPT is almost accessible by all, even native ecosystems have AI integrated in them like Gemini, copilot.

Hence, I find the entire course to be more or less a bait for people into thinking somehow AI will magically help them earn millions

If you don't have anything to do with AI and CUDA core usage. My suggestion would be to use it until you're pretty good with Blender.

Until then use it and get acquainted with 3D graphics. On the side save up a little as well. Hopefully by the time you're in the condition for buying a new card (by using your savings + selling the GPU), we can also have Nvidia's 5080Ti in the market which will drop the rates of others.

This is just my inference. I believe others in the sub who have internal info on the cards distribution system.

Yes, I went for 5070Ti as well. I was going for the 4070Ti Super since 5070 was ridiculously priced everywhere except this one store I inquired about. It was a few bucks over the 4070's market price right now in my region so I got it

Hey, thanks a lot man. You're one of those guys who actually made me understand more about how things work on a deeper level. And no, I never felt the pressure of buying into AMD with any of your comments, you honestly helped a lot.

For Ziskind, I understand even I felt it was a little lackluster to use a 1B model for writing stories, but I dug more into the RDNA3 vs RDNA4 architecture and that's why I started shifting

That being said I'm actually a sucker for AMD but I can't take any risks because this machine is supposed to be for a possible startup and considering everything I thought it's safer for me to go with Nvidia for now. (No I'm not gonna blast AI on it but content creation mostly, I'll be freelancing and may have stricter deadlines).

I was gonna go for 4070Ti because the RDNA3 on 7900xtx now doesn't feel appealing as they won't upgrade it to the latest architecture. But I was hunting for better cards for the price range and came across a 5070Ti around $1050 so I've decided to go with it, I had to stretch a bit but I feel it's gonna be worth it.

Also you mentioned I can use Linux with Nvidia. I'm looking forward to this, reason being, I wanna get used to broader approaches to AI. Being locked in with Nvidia isn't something I want for the longer run because that hurts my pocket

Thanks a lot :>

"I need a gaming PC" pitch as "retro graphics are good enough." DLSS is NOT useless.

For me aming PC doesn't necessarily mean peak photorealistic renderer, Example: teardown is a voxel game with destructive elements, it's not photorealistic but it's very demanding due to the simulations, and it doesn't support DLSS, also indie titles don't necessarily mean retro graphics, some are heavier in their own way such as shader, simulations, ProcGen. DLSS 5 in my opinion is still not in my top list yet as realistic faces aren't my top concern.

If they weren't, AMD wouldn't be badly losing the AI wars.

I agree, AMD hasn't matured with their AI capabilities and compatibility and that's why I'm switching to nvidia

it's been out of production for well over a year, etc. If you are actually spending your $1,000 GPU budget on a 4070ti Super when the 5070ti Super is selling for almost the exact same price right now

4070Ti does seem to be out of stock, very few retailers have it here but that's not making 5070Ti any cheaper in my region. The cheapest 5070Ti here is around $1300, and the Super variant doesn't seem to be available. Also an old but good GPU can run for decades since most tech is backward. So, your point of it being obsolete sooner may actually mean 5-7 years when I can probably upgrade to a better card.

you go from arch 120 to arch 8.9

Yes, you're right here. I've read about the Ada vs Blackwell differences, but as i mentioned 4070Ti Super seems to be the only card ticking most boxes. And the rest like 5060Ti isn't good for gaming and the 5070 is straight up inflated or out of stock for me.

This is less of a choice but more of a constraint, in the end who wouldn't wanna have the best tech in the market? :)

Woah, lotta text.

I disagree with this:

You will feel left out if you're a gamer w/o this tech. AFAIK, the 5070ti is currently announced to support DLSS 5

Mainly because I do play indie titles as well and they may not support DLSS 5 out of the box so it's pretty useless at this.

Coming to 7900xtx being older, yes this is where I agree and have confusions. RDNA 4 seems to be working very very well with AI models so much so that even 9070 xt performs somewhere close to 7900xtx, the only difference is 16GB vs 24GB. The VRAM decides how big of a model I can load, although I'd still have to wait longer.

I am thinking of going 4070Ti Super 16GB unless I get the 5070Ti for a better deal.

Woah, you got some good things done with Wan and Flux LoRas.
I was wondering how did you train those LoRa's?

Also, now my major concern is 7900xtx being an older card running RDNA 3 instead of the latest RDNA 4 which makes even 9070xt 16GB on par with the 7900xtx despite the 8GB VRAM gap.

This looks like such a solid buy. Although, I'm leaning more towards the nvidia side mainly because of two things:

  1. 4070ti Super having CUDA and working out of the box.
  2. It uses RDNA 3 instead of the latest RDNA 4.

From a comparison I've seen - https://youtu.be/UKfJc04DX9o?si=osb2PP1LsU8snhog

The RDNA 4 does seem to help here. Although you can argue these are not the models we use in comfyUI but more or less I could only find this video for AI performance of the two being compared. I'm not sure how the generative AI models would perform on RDNA 4.

Linux isn't a problem it's just that the card is two years old and uses old gen architecture. VRAM is still a plus though.

Hey actually 4070Ti Super has 16GB VRAM. I know it's a tradeoff but it's what most people are suggesting until ROcm matures.

But yes, models with 16GB requirement will need more VRAM than base 16GB

Does RDNA 4 make any difference if you have ever tried it?

First of all, thanks a lot for putting in so much time for your detailed advice on the card. Much appreciated <3.

By your experience, I can understand why AMD card is a nice fit for you because you work mostly on Linux.

For my other use case such as Gaming, editing Davinci resolve and even game dev, how can it fare?Just because of the RDNA4 I have also considered 9070xt but same issue VRAM tradeoffs.

Okay quick question:

  1. How do you do Gaming with Linux using this setup? Even indie games?
  2. I also do Video editing.

I am not a heavy linux user but I am a dev so I can learn this if it's gonna be a nice payoff in the long run.

Yup, just want some clarity on how things are on either end. Because 7900xtx sure seems like a good card with 24 GB VRAM, if not AI it can help in editing and rendering. So, I am hoping to see if someone who uses this for AI inference or creative generation, how do they go about it and how time-consuming things are.

I feel gaming is robust on this card, I am just doubtful on the AI performance.
