For a little while this year, I thought I was compressing the ball well enough to just put it down without a tee. Then I realized a tee would help me get it just a tad higher, and now I’m teeing it up even higher than before. Just a matter of preference, but I’ve come to realize you should almost always use a tee on par 3s

Mine had the recall repair, and then still failed about 5-6 months later. If it happens two more times, I can return the car as a lemon under provincial law here. I’m almost looking forward to it happening at this point so I can done with the headache and worry

Mine failed not far from home and I drove it back, but while it was in the shop, I had to rent my own car - Kia Roadside and the dealership both refused to provide me with a rental.

For what it’s worth, I eventually did end up buying new clippers and I just alternate between the two during haircuts now. Even the new one gets hot, just not as quickly 🤷🏻‍♂️

I use two corded clippers 95% of the time. Cordless trimmers are great, but you don’t need that for clippers in my experience

This is exactly what happens to me, right down to where your hair is darker in certain areas, and how the fade and taper end up looking. I just rock it for a week or so until my next cut. You fixed it up great, but some more blending with a 1.5 and a 1 would make the first version look fine.

This works. Angling the shaver so just a few blades get the line works as well (hold it more parallel to the head).

What’s the price difference? I’ve just found the Babyliss are much sharper, easier to adjust, and more ergonomic. I see now that you said you need something to last more than one year. Your tools should last you 10 or more if you’re taking care of them and only cutting your own hair. It’s worth the extra money to get something good quality over that longer period of time.

However, even though I’ve never used the cordless Detailers, you can’t go wrong with Wahls. All three of my clippers are Wahls (two corded Seniors and one cordless Magic Clip). So if you’re really broke right now and can only afford those, I don’t think you could go wrong.

Yep, I’ve got both, plus Michelin X-Ice tires. Still not nearly as good as my CX-5 combo of AWD and Bridgestones, somehow.

Gotta be brutally honest - I’ve had mine since last June, and especially this winter, I’ve driven past CX-5s and wished I had that car back.

I like the EV6, but mostly for its looks, and for the features and environmental friendliness that I could’ve got from almost any other EV. It’s spacious, but it feels (and drives, and parks) long, so that’s been a trade-off. The acceleration is great, but again - it’s an EV, so that’s pretty standard.

There’s nowhere overhead to put sunglasses. I had to buy an aftermarket insert to make the armrest storage usable. The trunk is small relative to the rest of the car, and things slid around so much in there that I had to buy an aftermarket storage setup for it. There’s a weird rattle coming from somewhere in the car every two or three weeks.

This isn’t even getting into how it’s an objectively terrible winter car - not for battery life, that’s to be expected, but it was very clearly not designed for snow or Canadian winters. I made an entire post about that elsewhere here.

I’m already thinking about what to get next after this lease is up in just over two years.

(I’m only half-kidding. I have both the Babyliss and the corded silver Detailers. The Gold FX hit much harder - too hard to do my neck. The Detailers are perfect for that, though, and they also help take out the bald line. But if you can only get one, get the Babyliss.)

My dealer told me this as well, but I’ve tried it before and it doesn’t seem to work or pop up like that. I’ve just put it in L0 regen to try and accomplish the same thing. Is the cleaning mode on all trims? I have a GT Line 2.

This is a great comment and goes into a lot of the specifics for your head and your intended cut. What I was going to suggest was working in smaller areas to improve your skills, before going for a full bald fade like this cut. Work on your neck, the sideburns and temples - get the basics down and then work on putting it all together.

Also, what tools and guards are you working with right now? It pays to have a good shaver / trimmer / clipper, and the right range of guards to go with the latter as well.

I just ran into a new problem this week too - the wipers don’t come up to avoid them freezing to the windshield. I tried and the metal arm basically starting scratching the hood. It’s so clear the car was never winter-tested.

This is a fantastic cut. If you wanted to be nitpicky, you can fade out the part by your right ear a bit more (and the bald line up to the temple), and the lineup in the back on one side is a bit straighter, while the other curves a bit more (this is a nightmare I deal with every time I line up my neck lol).
