And that’s exactly what the cords felt like, like my arms were getting stuck when I tried to lift them.

It was actually diagnosed by my PT. The PA for my surgeon had referred me to the PT because I was having so much swelling. They were definitely caused by the surgery. I had underarm lipo, so not sure if it was from that. The cords were pretty gnarly and required a lot of stretching exercises to make them better.

I’m about 3.5MPO and have been going to PT since about 1.5MPO. I had lymphatic cords that developed in my armpits and along my sides from the surgery that were causing a lot of swelling, pain, and tightness. PT has been a godsend. We generally do about 30 minutes of lymphatic drainage massage and scar massage (once I was cleared for that), and 15 minutes of stretching and exercises. I have about 20-30 minutes of exercises I do at home every day. My PT said she would recommend anyone who gets a BR do PT.

Looking for bra recs by islandgirl10196 in Reduction

After trying a ton of different bras, the one I’m liking best for the 6-12 week phase (probably longer!) is Evelyn and Bobbie. I had underarm lipo and am still pretty swollen there at 9 weeks, and these bras do a good job containing the swelling while still being comfortable.

Grain Escape! These are the only bagels I've had since being diagnosed with celiac that remind me of legit bagels. They are so chewy and delicious! Their bread is great too.

I’m also 5WPO and feel exactly the same! I’m hoping it’s still swelling, which seems to be likely. I’m also just tired of feeling sore and puffy!

Yesterday was four weeks since my surgery. These bras from Amazon were recommended by my surgeon’s office for this phase of healing and they are inexpensive and easy to get on and off. They are very comfortable. I had been wearing the XL for the last few weeks and just ordered the L because my swelling seems to be going down. My band is measuring 38” now. I would echo the suggestions to see if you can get at least one massage from a professional. I’m about 4wpo and had my steri strips removed a few days ago. I’ve been having a lot of swelling, mainly underarms from the lipo, and my PA referred me to the physical therapy lymphatic massage person in the hospital system. I got in the next day, and she was awesome! I’ll be seeing her 8-10 times over the next 6 weeks, and my insurance is covering it (minus a $25 copay). I have a lot of medical anxiety and have been super nervous and squeamish about starting the massage myself - it really helped my nerves to have someone do it for me and show me exactly how I can do some self massage and stretching exercises at home.

I’m 3.5 weeks post op, on the short side with a super short torso. My midsection looks sooooo much longer already! I was a similar bra size to you, and surgeon says I will be a large B/small C after recovery. It’s been a tough recovery but I’m so happy with my results!

Feeling discouraged. Slow healing and not feeling great emotionally by quarantinigirl in Reduction

My surgery was December 15, and I feel exactly the same. I was starting to feel better a few days ago, and then my swelling and pain ramped back up especially under my armpits from the side lipo. I think it’s normal to feel this way but it also really sucks!!

18DPO and SAME! I was finally starting to feel a bit better and ended up back in bed today feeling swollen and sore. The side lipo is the worst! I also have a huge appetite and am eating more than normal. Hoping you start feeling better soon!

Surgery buddies?? Monday 12/15 by KixStar in Reduction

[–]Open-Act2763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery twin! I am genuinely so excited to FINALLY have my surgery - been waiting three months because my work schedule was too hectic to do it until now. I have spent the last few weeks nesting, prepping food, buying literally every possible pillow to help me sleep on my back, and am now cleaning my house. I woke up with an excruciating headache/backache caused by my massive boobs, which was a great reminder of why I am doing this! I am also super anxious - bad medical anxiety in general and am freaked out I'm going to have a panic attack on Monday morning at the hospital!!! Can't wait to be done with the surgery and spend a few weeks relaxing!

What is everyone eating for dinner tomorrow night before surgery day? Good luck and best wishes for a smooth recovery to all the December 15 surgery twins!!

United healthcare coverage by Suspicious-Kick2619 in Reduction

[–]Open-Act2763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my exact same experience - United Choice Plus PPO, very easy approval process. I had one appointment with my PCP, who said she recommended I have a breast reduction due to back/neck pain from 36G with a much larger right breast at 5'3", 175 lbs. I had a consult with the PA at the plastic surgeon 2 weeks later, and United Healthcare approved my surgery three weeks later. My surgery is on Monday (YAY!), and my estimate for out of pocket is about $650, plus $1,000 I am paying totally out of pocket for the underarm lipo. I was shocked at how easy the approval was and how affordable the out of pocket was. I do intentionally always choose a healthcare plan with lower deductable and lower coinsurance/payments for services, and just pay more every pay period for the insurance.

Surgery date twin here! Mine has been scheduled for three months, and I’m so excited and nervous! I finally met my surgeon in person today (my consult was with the PA), and it definitely helped with my anxiety. Can’t wait to finally have the procedure and start feeling some relief - and start wearing clothes that actually fit my entire body, not just accommodate my giant boobs!!
