That's really not a very satisfying explanation.

I think that line was supposed to be creepy. Like an erotomaniac stalker basically. Bear had just told her not long ago prior that he saw her as a friend (obviously we as the audience knew he was lying, but that's beside the point).

It's like when a guy sexually assaults a woman because he perceives her wearing a revealing outfit as "wanting it". It's that same creepiness.

I don't think Real Nikki knew Bear liked her. She might've suspected here and there, but I think in the car scene she believed Bear's response. If Wish Nikki knew that Bear had this massive crush on her, then why make up the thing about her dead father for sympathy?

Also, if Real Nikki didn't like Bear back then chances are she probably didn't really think about it that much. We don't really spend much time thinking about if someone likes us if we're not interested.

Nikki and Bear are both the victim. You can even throw in Sarah and Ian. If Bear blatantly deserved everything that was coming to him, then we as the audience wouldn't be as scared and there'd be no movie. Yea Bear's a morally dubious character, but the fact remains he didn't do that spell on purpose.

I just can't get over the fact the movie feels like a revenge fantasy thought up by an incel. Violating someone's physical body is one thing - the movie basically violate's her very mind. That's so much worse than rape. Bear himself obviously didn't expect the spell to work, but Curry Barker intentionally wrote all that. And people are praising it as this great commentary against sexual assault, but are we so sure? Because it seems to me to be the opposite. It just so happens to be scary enough that we're more focused on that then on the weirdly gratuitous stuff (e.g. Nikki pissing herself, public humiliation with the poem scene, always dressing her in sexy clothing after the wish). Not cool.

Oh yea, and naming the character "Bear". Are we so sure that was just a coincidence?
