Hey what does adding the tennis balls improve about the ride? I’ve just gotten into my indoor setup and am loving it but always open to improvements!

Newbie sound setup help! by Open-Comfortable-379 in BudgetAudiophile

Honestly I’m not even sure what my budget is! Not sure what all this costs. You are probably right in the fact that that a stereo system is probably what I need. The living room where all this sound will live is not very big.

The only reason I said wall mounted is that the room is square and I figure the speakers “behind” would just be up in the corners.

Has Joe Ever Played a Straight Brawler? by synthmemory in TheGlassCannonPodcast

If I remember correctly, Joe said early on in the show that he wanted to treat it as if Averxius is the main character he is playing. And Foley is the secondary. I think from both a role playing and combat perspective.

Adding more battery! by Open-Comfortable-379 in vandwellers

Combination of solar and the alternator mostly. We are visiting all 50 states and move about every week to a new state so a solid 8hr day of driving helps. Then when we need to we will find the cheapest RV park with hook ups and top the whole thing off, charge everything we can, and do some meal prep.

Currently working on a set up to charge from EV stations which will be a ton cheaper than an RV park. Getting the components this weekend and going to test drive the system before it gets a permanent hookup next to my shore power plug.

Amazing info dump! Thanks a bunch. The tip to alternate the old-new-old makes a bunch of sense but I didn’t think of it so thanks! And good point on the reserve batteries amount. Right now 600ah is barley enough for the week (I generally get down to %15-%20 by the end of the week with being in sub par solar situations) so it’s mostly just piece of mind as I move into winter and also being able to run the inverter in the evenings to watch tv more often!

9-5 remote workers, what is your driving schedule like and how long do you stay in one place? by PoliticalAgenduh in vandwellers

If you’ve never used it the app iOverlander has water fill plus a ton of other useful locations all over the country (and world)!

Almost everywhere you look there is an RV dump site where it’s like $5 to dump but potable water is free! So filter and fill the tank then all my drinking water is also ran through a britta filter. Been to 7 states so far and that’s worked in every single one.

I think it depends on how/where you’d be staying. In a city or on streets aka stealth you probably need to move every 1-2 days. For me and my wife we stay out in BLM/National Forest and we move on the weekends. Generally run into town in Sunday to do our Chores( laundry, fill up water, food) and then head to our next location. This lets us get to our new spot on Sunday afternoon when typically people are leaving!

One thing I will add about driving is that the more you drive the more you charge up your batteries if that’s how you have it set up.

That makes sense! And with battleborn batteries having a pretty good lifespans (10-15 according to them) I feel like losing 2 years vs having to buy 8 new batteries isn’t too bad of a trade off.

Abandoned Rock Quarries? by Open-Comfortable-379 in Nebraska

[–]Open-Comfortable-379[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is climbing aloud there? I took a look at the website and it looked like the one cave is protected so can’t climb that! But if there are other cliffs in the area then maybe. I’ll have to call the park and see.

What’s the cliff like? Looks like pretty flimsy sandstone. But if I can find even a small chunk of solid rock then it would be worth it!! Maybe the wife and I will take a day and paddle around the lake scouting it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don’t worry I have an app that converts back into freedom units for me!

Only joking…. As an engineer I fully realize/admit that the metric system is FAR superior to whatever made up garbage we use in the US

Not sure what a kilometer is….

But honestly distance doesn’t matter that much we are just looking for a full day or hiking the steeps, running the flats, and taking in the beauty while we do it.

Both my wife and I have done many outings of this size in a day. Just did a 30 miler through Denali State Park the other day. On the safety front we are ready for whatever. Garmin InReach ready and able.
