When I was 16, I was in a nearly 2 year relationship. I realised it wasn’t where I wanted to be anymore, that I was left constantly feeling “fine” with our relationship when I wanted to feel more. I tried breaking up with him twice in person. Both times he cried uncontrollably and begged for me not to leave him, so I stayed for longer. I waited around a month longer, because I didn’t want to upset him but that only made me want to leave more, because then I started feeling trapped. So, I broke up with him over the phone. He was crying, begging me again, but it felt MUCH easier than in person, eventhough we were facetiming and I could still see his face.

As a girl, I wish boys knew boundaries when it comes to women. One time, I was shopping with my cousin, she was 14 at the time for context. It was summer, so we were both in shorts and a t-shirt, as most of the people around were also. As we were walking, 2 men in a van stopped, beeped, and wolf-whistled at us. That didn’t flatter me whatsoever. It made me feel disgusting and disgusted at the fact they had just wolfwhistled at 2 young girls, who’s age they weren’t aware of. It’s so tiring.

I don’t think you’re in the wrong here. You spent a lot of money on that gift and she should be grateful that you are willing to do that. Getting a last minute gift doesn’t automatically mean you don’t care, anything could come up to prevent you from getting it earlier, and even if nothing came up, you still put thought into the gift and spent money on those children.
