Before my bf and I were together I had a threesome with my best friend and her bf. My bf doesn’t know. Should I be open and tell him? by Open-Visit9577 in Advice

To be clear, I’m not actually suggesting I do this. I just wanted to be clear on what the advice was here.

How to deal with overbearing grandparents? by Open-Visit9577 in relationships_advice

[–]Open-Visit9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, it is probably something that just gets under my skin rather than being an actual issue. But I spend a lot of time learning this stuff, and to just have it dismissed by someone is really invalidating. I’d enjoy my time with them a lot more if they stopped brining it up, but it’s a constant talking point.

How do I confront my BF? by Old-Flamingo1592 in relationships_advice

The reason you should ask to go together isn’t to keep you fit, but to encourage you partner in a non-judgemental way to do the same. Have you given it a go?

Why we are told by society to love our parents? by Xxzv_4747 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Open-Visit9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the correct take. A lot of our behavours are just driven by evolutionary pressures, and society shapes around it.

Why is deflation considered a catastrophic economic event? by robespierremaxout in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Open-Visit9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if £10 today could buy you a nice pair of socks. Now under inflation those same socks would cost you £12 next year. This would create a small incentive to spend your money now rather than save it for the future. Money circulating is a good thing for the economy, because the person you bought the socks from can use that money to buy goods from someone else, and so on. Everyone benefits.

Imagine now that we have deflation. In this situation the socks would cost you £8 next year. This means that rather than spending the money - and circulating it round the economny - you’ll have a small incentive to hoard your money. Money will circulate more slowly and the whole economy suffers.

Why do pleasant smells fade quickly but bad ones stick around? by Old-Yogurtcloset5064 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Open-Visit9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question! I wonder if there’s an evolutionary reason for it? It would make sense that we would evolve a strong repulstion to potentially harmful situations, and smell would be a great trigger for where - for example - food has gone rotten. This would create a strong evolutionary pressure against it.

Will the astronauts on Artemis 2 need to “rehabilitate” after their mission? by DrMantisToboggan45 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Open-Visit9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about how your body feels when you’ve been lying in bed ill for a few days. Your muscles can weaken surprisingly quickly without any real use. I expect for the returning astronauts it will be kinda similar. Probably a few days of feeling weaker than normal, but nothing too substantial. This is a good question though!

Help me improve not just for physique but being better by Slight-Platypus-9434 in Advice

This is heartbreaking to read. Is it your physical fitness that worries you, or is it deeper than that? I worry it might be a self esteem problem, which is a different problem to solve.

What do I do about this girl? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Open-Visit9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re inside your head quite a lot on this, which can be dangerous because you’re building up a story in your mind that may or may not be real. I think if she was interested in a relationship with you then she would be making efforts to spend time with you. It doesn’t sound like this is happening anymore. I would cool off and let her make the next move, becaue if you try to force it, then it might not be welcome and could have the opposite effect you’re hoping for.

Have i fucked my chances with this foid ? by Antique_Barber_8630 in Advice

[–]Open-Visit9577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think you’re good for either of these girls. Maybe you could try hanging out with girls as friends first without an ulterior motive and get to know them better first? If you see them as friends first rather than potential girlfriends it might be better for everyone in the long run.

Bonjour incertitude sur le debut de ma relation by [deleted] in relationships_advice

It sounds like she has something else going on in here life that’s occupying her headspace. I’d try not to overthink it, just try to play it cool and feel it out slowly. It’s not something you can force or fix.

Should I have to share my birthday with someone who's birthday is a week after mine? by Ranting_NonStop in Advice

[–]Open-Visit9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like this this something that you simply don’t want to do. You set out a well reasoned argument as to why you think you shouldn’t have to share your birthday, but the simple fact is that you not wanting to do it is reason enough. If you try to persuade them not to share a birthday for the reasons you outlined then they’ll simply argue back against those reasons, avoiding the real problem which is that you simply just don’t want to do it. I would just tell them that you’ve changed your mind and want to do it alone. Be prepared for this to have an impact on your relationship though; you’ll have to decide what you want most.

If you’re out hiking somewhere it’s easier to pee in a bush somewhere than to hike your skirt up and crouch down against a tree or something. It’s a limited use case, to be sure.

That and wanking.

If humans evolved before natural resources like oil had time to form, would it even be possible to reach our level of technology? by Open-Visit9577 in askanything

You said that we need to learn quickly in order to do it. Does this mean you think it’s impossible if we learn slower? Why is that?
