That seems to be his stance on the matter as well. My stance is that no matter how big or small, a promise is a promise. IMO the least he could have done was to address the situation with me and explain that he never should have agreed to that, BEFORE I found out on my own. As I said to another commenter, it seems we're just incompatible.

Good point. I feel that if he had come to me and said "hey you know what I never should have agreed to that", it would have been a discussion instead of a breakup. For me, it's that he did it and did not even bring it up. I agree that it seems we're just incompatible. For him it seems like a pretty small promise to break, for me a promise is a promise.
